Just interested in peoples opinions on this really.

As all of our customers, are shitting it, and reverting to downgrading products to fit lower price points, and the mere mention of the word "Premium" will likely have you thrown into the street.

Is it.

"Fuck Me!!!! Food and Fuel are well pricey, I'm not going to bother buying that "insert clothing item of desire" and start buying value shit roll."

or

"Bollocks to the Credit Crunch. I'm getting wankered this weekend, in my new "insert clothing item of desire", and I when I get home, tuck into a fucking great lobster. And in the morning treat myself to a power dump, and wipe my arse with Kleenex Triple Velvet."

Something along those lines anyway.

not really had much effect on me apart from maybe 20 more on fuel per month.

it used to cost me £30 to fill my tank.

£30 now gets me half a tank full

People with cars and mortgages + unsecured debts are going to find themselves in more and more trouble - as I rent and dont have any credit other than £300 interest free on a credit card I dont think it will effect me that much.

On the other hand..

If I get sacked it will be harder to get another job, and plans to move to London at the end of my current rental agreement will need to be evaluated..

was hearing today about how people associate credit crunch (harder and more expensive to borrow), with higher oil prices and economic slow-down, though they are different things happening at the same time

I think inflation is more dangerous than the credit crunch (as in the availability of cheap credit) as its about time people found it harded to borrow above their means!!

I'm trying to save but finding it very hard as just simple food shops seem to be £20-30 a pop. Probably not up much but I'm certainly aware of it more. 4 chicken breasts for example used to be about £4. They're now about £7. Fuel I'm doing about £60 more a month, gas and lecky up... in the end it's meaning I cant splurge on much at all.

That's harsh.. I take it there was little or no warning? Any chance another co will come in for you? considering the line of work I'm guessing that's not going to be easy?

we've had an amazing ride for the last 10 years and this is the inevitable comedown.

things will take a while to correct. it's the fact that banks can't gamble on giving out 95/100% mortgages that's brought things to a halt, as they're shitting it over their current US mortgage debt and what might follow if further US bilge is to follow. Fuel is a red herring, as the treasury nicks it all in tax and in real terms, it's actually cheaper than it was 15 years ago.

on the positive side, bright, talented and hardworking people always get through, so don't panic and enjoy everything you can.

I am old enough (no lecture), to remember the last recession and was burned by it but these things do happen. Let's face it, no one's gonna starve to death.

well, i knew things were bad, but because i knew i was still making them money every month, that i (/ the dapartment) was safe, but because the rest of the business was doing so bad, they just pulled the plug. jobs are scarce in my line now, ive got alot of contacts and a tentative offer of a job in dubai, but i dont know much about the place, so am going to look into it in the next few days.

I take it that as they have hit the wall, a payment from them won't be coming your way to tide you over??

Fuel has gotten pretty stupid now.
I usually put in £45 quid a month, which does me for short journeys.

I think the people who are going to be hit hardest are those who make a genuine living, not claiming benefits, being paid close to minimum wage.
Then obviously those with huge debts and mortgages they can't repay.

Though I do feel a slight sense of satisfaction in those people who have loads of buy-to-let mortgages struggling, as I would like to own my own place at some stage, and those people just trying to make a some cash of it annoy me.

The Media are as ever, unceasing with their grubby little fingers in matters. However it has had no effect on us as we don't run a car and are generally in a good situation, even though I went went bankrupt 2 years ago. It has put a hold on our plans to move though.

Whilst there is certainly a problem for many there is also a heck of a lot of knee jerking going on with many companies taking the piss out of the situation, increasing prices, redundancies. I know it's all future proofing but it's still annoying how society reacts to the incessant bullshit that is fed to us through newspapers and plastic bbc newsreaders. Evil cunts

I fear it is going to get worse before it gets better.
