Who's feeling it?

I started commuting by bike about 3 months ago and I'm loving it - free, green, wicked exercise, quicker than a bus and good fun too. Totally converted.

I want to get a new bike at some point, anyone get any tips? Any fans of single-speeds?

i dont have a pump other than a track pump so i never carry anything apart from allen/spoke keys. been on 40 mile xc rides only carrying this much, it'll backfire one day. got a lot of faith in my gear though. once i start doing longer rides or riding road/cyclocross i'll sort out some proper kit to take with me

That is lovely. Really well put together. Gumwall tyres and the trimmed brooks finish it off nicely. What frame is it?

Its a Koga Miyata Gents Touring from 1978, never meant to be a racer so try to keep that spirit alive.
Repainted the frame, polished and cleaned everything a year ago.

Shimano 600 Arabesque brake levers, bike is also on velospace: http://velospace.org/node/39080

How cool is this?

A "floating" roundabout for bikes over a busy junction in Holland.

I have the same one. How did it look when you got it? Nice to see a repaint as I'm not a huge fan of the original colour.

Except for the brooks saddle, had lots of paint chips.

both

hasn't been stripped yet. the suit against him is being brought on by the us anti doping agencey. an official decision has to come from the uci (international cycling committee) to declare him stripped of the titles. at the moment they're waiting for the us anti doping agency's allegations against him before making a decision.

So are the Us doping agency allowed to declare he's been stripped?

Hasn't pretty much everybody he beat over the tour wins since been done for doping etc? General logic would dictate that he likely was as well if so

no, certainly not. only the uci presides over the tour de france. it's out of the us anti doping agency's jurisdiction as it were. though it seems inevitable that it will happen.

among lance's extra curricular activities are his cancer foundation and politics (ambition to become governor of texas).
the us anti doping agency say they have 10 witnesses that are ready and willing to testify against lance. if he were to continue his fight for innocence, he would be placed in front of a grand jury which would then run the risk of perjury which carries a criminal offence and would be devastating for his future political carreer and be much more damaging to his foundation than to just be stripped of his titles.

he says that he is the most tested athelete and has never tested positive for any banned substances. this type of statement doesn't profess his innocence. only that he's never truly been caught red handed, unlike some of his former teammates.
