Off to Manchester this weekend. Any Mancunian fukkers point me in the right direction of the decent shopping areas? (i'm into streetwear stuff like Stussy, etc and decent trainer shops).

I'd have done a forum search, but it's like pulling teeth. Laughing out loud

Cheers.

Aspecto has a tiny shoe shop and about 5 mins away is their clothing store which does Stussy etc. There is a map on the aspecto site but the site is down at the moment (we've crashed it buying too many Visvims Smiling). When you come out of the Aspecto shoe store there is an alleyway almost opposite with shops (by some posh shop), go down there and you come out by Flannels and the Office sale shop. Round the corner from there you'll see a sandwich board next to an arcade advertising Ran, it's at the far end of the arcade and doesn nice denim and decent shoes. Further on is Exchange Square (think that's what it's called) there is a Harvey Nics and a Selfridges there, there is also an Adidas store opposite Selfridges. Selfridges has a Size? inside and there is also another branch opposite H&M. If you walk back up into the centre there is a big TK Maxx with a very large shoe section, and if you continue that way you'll get to the old part of town with Exit (SBs) Oi Polloi (check website for map) and a few other decent stores.
Hope this helps, maybe a Manc forummer could post if my geography is a bit confused, think it's right though.

Oi Polloi in Tib Street is good. The general area in Oldham St has good shops as well.

There's Flannels, Life, Aspecto, Selfridges, Size?, Offspring, Kendals a fuckload of smaller custom boutiques near Oldham Street (Afflecks Palace) and alot more towards King Street (Armani, Hugo Boss, DKNY, Armani Collezioni, Diesel etc)

If your unsure where these are, ask a Manc... friendly bunch

If you're in Manchester for food it's gotta be a curry, no contest!
Had a steak here once which was brilliant too (bit wanky tho *edit - atmosphere wise, not the steak Laughing out loud)

places to eat there is a mexican thats supposed to be decent and i want to try http://www.sugarvine.com/manchester/search/cuisine_search.asp?cuisine_type=Mexican, also chiquitoes in the printworks

curry there is karims just opened on king street which has a very good reputation, and EastzEast is very good

i love a place called croma, very nice pizzas.. bit like pizza express but better.

theres a very good place i love, possibly my favourite restaurant in the city center called mr. thomas chop house, rights next to tommy hilfiger shop, a very old style english pub serving english pub food, is a bit pricey though, as is gaucho above but thats also decent.

you've also got all the standard chains, nandos, pizza express, gbk etc etc. selfridges restaurant also does a good club sandwhich which proves to be very good hangover food Smiling

Bar Burrito in picadilly gardens has cheap mexican food. Its like subway but nicer.

If you like 'vintage' (like most student types in manchester) there are lots around oldham street. Cast skate shop in n.quarter and 'Wood' also has a vintage section. Ryan Vintage is the most popular I think, Aflecks Palace has stalls and 'world famous second hand shop' cant quite remember the name towards ancoats on oldham street. Also Oxfam originals and a standard oxfam just off picadilly with more fashion than chintz tea cups.

If you go to Aspecto opposite there is a shop called Richard Creme which sells undercover and lots of crap footballer style stuff by the looks of it. ran in st anns arcade has good trainers and jeans.

Exit has moved/closed for time being they had a big sale last week
