Diamond Rings

Okay so a female friend was asking me about diamond engagement rings today and said she heard about people going away to buy their engagement rings as it was cheaper and the ring was revalued at a higher price in the UK.

Does anyone know of any such places where people do this? I had no idea, never heard of such things. She said she is looking for a ring about 5-6k that looks different. Puzzled

Any recommended sites I can forward onto her or advice to give her.

My recommendation was I would watch the film blood diamond and try and hook her up that way as I didn't have the foggiest.

Thanks in advance.

I know someone who went to South Africa to get the diamonds loose, then came back here to get the ring made..

But, they own a diamond mine.. So, erm.... Can't really help there! Laughing out loud

I'll ask them and see if they know people out there that sell them to the public..

Thanks, it's cool if the person mining it has lost an arm in the process. Cry

unless your spending over 10 grand you might as well just get from them.
tho Evers' antwerp shout is a good romantic weekend away to get one together if you can afford to.

If I was doing that sort of thing I'd really feel like I needed someone who knew their shit along with me.

That's what I thought. Especially as Turkey is renowned for fake stuff.

Bought mine in India. GF showed me a design she wanted from EC1. It was £4,500 at full retail and I got the same ring for third of the price. Insurance valuation came out £4k from an indy jeweller.

PM me for detials as I can do the same for cash...

It is but i think there are bargains to be had, the place i went Kalkan there was a silver shop. The guy was mega friendly got talking to him as they invite you to sit down have some turkish tea or a beer. The bloke must be minted cos the shop was heaving with customers. He sold us a couple of nice silver bits at below scrap price (May have been had like a kipper but he seemed genuine). Me and the misses went over the jewelry quarter to try and sell her mums wedding ring and the women in the shop had a look at this silver necklace and said would be worth around £120 scrap and £200 plus retail. We payed around £45 quid for it.

http://360vt.eu/justsilver/ This is the shop

He was offering a weeks trip to sample one of his villas aswell, must have thought we had cash

This was his property development company

Cool story bro etc

Chaps parents had a villa out there and had used the jewelers before. Fair point, I asked the exact same questions at the time... but then you ain't gonna give some market stall owner 400 of your hard-earned

All stones should be certed by an independant and anyone who knows what they are doing would give you a 3D model of the metal work to sign off prior to buying. You just pay for the metal in wieght. Turkey is just as good as India all depends on who you work with. Best way is to buy as direct as you can.

Also no one has mentioned VAT etc. You get caught bringing the stuff back you will be charged and possibly fined for none declare. Better to FEDEX with someone trustworthy.

Sleuth if you're interested I can introduce to the guy I used he lives in Wandsworth and just does private client stuff i.e. the wife says I want XYZ Boodles Graff whatever and he does exact knock offs. He'll let you pay after it's been Assayed/Hallmarked/Insurance Valued etc...
