Dior Denim Question

I found this scan on the superfuture forum (originally taken from Men's Non-No magazine) of some street shots of people wearing different dior jeans. I personally thought the bloke second from left (no 9) had a great fit (non homo) on his - but is it possible to tell what ones they are - 19cm possibly?

It's probably difficult to tell, and sorry about the big picture!

I really don't understand this fascination & price assosiated with dior jeans??

I picked up a pair of skinny fit YMC plain black jeans yesterday, from the new season, £115. Wore them last night & they're great. I'm an exact 30.5 inch waist, so 32 inch skinnies fit just the way I like them! my cock needs to breath Laughing out loud

but yea, all this £300 or whatever for jeans, christ, those days are long gone. especially for what is essentially a mass produced brand.

ye great? what does that prove? i didn't dispute it? i said not very often? & well, i'm right, it's not often you find dior jeans at £125 & besides, they're probably the cheapest in their selection this season & still no doubt run as high as £250 £300 for some runs. Roll Eyes

Christ you're sad. It's very simple economics; if people are willing to purchase at such a price, then the company will charge it.

Obviously there are factors in which the company can warrant themselves commanding such a price for the jeans. (Please don't make me write an essay or post up my thesis on luxury goods).

PS. Pretty much all jeans are mass produced these days. 45RPM being one exception, but guess what, they charge up to USD1000 a pair!

i aint never paying more than 150 for jeans or trainers ever again. ever....done with all that. plenty of amazing choices of both without ever having to go over that price limit imo.

how on earth am I sad for examplifying my point that the majority of Dior jeans are not £125? please feel free to post your crap on Luxury goods? & you call me sad???.

I work directly with emerging designers who hand make their collections & still charge less than most luxury brands. So yea, throw you're bloody thesis at me. jesus.

I was saying I personally refuse to pay silly amounts of money on a product, that is effectively no better than another at half the price. Obviously people will pay over the odds or just for the concept, or philosohpy of the brand Dior for example. What I was suggesting, was an alternative.

Why that makes me sad? well, maybe you should right a thesis on the psychological behaviours or profiles of person(s), subsequently interacting with variables concerning consumer lifestyles/cultures.

Roll Eyes

My personal opinion on whether I wish to sell out, has fuck all to do with my current economic situation.

But thankyou for showing your great concern, much appreciated.

I never mentioned anything about your economic situation ?? Laughing out loud

Sad because you had to go copy+paste 9 links to prove the point that Dior Homme jeans were near £250-300. But the fact is that you can get a pair for £125 as MoB pointed out. Yes, they're entry level but you didn't mention anything about the modal price of the jeans in your original post so why the grief sunshine?

I couldn't care less about you working with emerging designers, i'm all for new talent, but guess why they're not charging exhorbitant prices? Because they're emerging designers and not a globally reknowned luxury goods company.

Regardless of quality, Dior can, and do sell jeans at the £250 mark and people buy, why? Because of the value-added in the brand name and exclusivity of the product (if you compare with other brands such as Diesel/Levi's).

In your original post you stated that you didn't understand the fascination/price with regards to Dior Homme jeans (didn't mention anything about you 'not selling out'); i gave you your answer.

as they're effectively just as good quality as dior & i'm not having to take out a second mortgage to pay for them????

they also resemble the concept dior are trying to capture in a far more instrumental form. Plain deep black denim, with black stitching, the original rock n roll aesthetic.

personally I can justify paying £115 for what i've got, I couldn't justify paying £300 for a more glamorous (washes, dyes etc..) look with dior stitched inside.

Dior have taken on their interpretation (or one mans) of rock & roll and put their international, commercial spin on it with a nice phat price tag.

enjoy.

there is nothing exclusive about dior for fuck sake...Roll Eyes why even compare a fashion house to 2 world renowned lifestyle brands, is beyond me & emphasises what exactly i'm arguing against here.

He's got a point. Also if the episcentre of this argument is about personal economical values and design taste that the argument is void. One cant be right or wrong in matters of opinion.

well, considering Dior is carried at Harvey Nicholls, I can't consider them exclusive, lmao. sorry, lol.

a Brand or fashion house, is hardly exclusive when they're making millions. I think you guys interpretation on exclusive varies from mine somehow.

& a price does NOT depict whether a product is exclusive or not. Roll Eyes

as much as I enjoy hitting my head off a brick wall, I'm off to get drunk & fuck about.
