Try http://www.daft.ie and you'll have a good picture. Depends alot on the area, the north side is cheaper but abit ruff around the edges. There are loads of new flats coming on stream all the time and rent is coming down also, so don't be afraid to bargain if your on for moving into one of the new developments in the greater dublin area.

Cheers Larry,

Been looking at Daft for about 2 weeks now.

Flying to Dublin tomorrow/wednesday to look at some places in Docklands/Dundrum and Sandyford. 1 bed places are fucking expensive if you want anything nice, but 2 bed places are much better value - but I guess thats the same wherever you go.

I'm looking at this place www.altovetro.ie - but I dont have a 'friend' out there yet (yes boohoo) to move in with... so it would be rediculous money for just me Smiling

You from/live there?

I thought Dublin was a shit-hole, I'd not want to live there.

There is the whole Temple Bar pink cowboy hat hen weekend side which is best to be avoided Nick, but outside of this Dublin is pretty fine. Has good night life/music and with Ireland having the 3rd highest GDP after Norway and Luxemburg there is a very high quality of life and lots of work.

Dublin's not that bad. Its just very small so everyone knows everyone within their social groupings. Lots going on here, its a really young city as there's 3 big uni's here. A good spot to live would be Rathmines should get something reasonable there and its a 10 minute walk into the city centre. Some nice apartments in the docklands and the ifsc if your looking for something modern those would be good places. Dundrum and Sandyford would be a bit out of the city but are nice areas.

If your into your music Dublins great, im going to see Wolf Parade, TV on the Radio, Built to Spill and Hot Club De Paris in the next few weeks all in nice small venues. So if thats your thing you should enjoy your time in Dublin.

It just seemed very run-down, the shops were pretty crap and it just felt a bit grim. Temple bar was, as you say, a tourist hell-hole.

I have lived in a fair few different places and rate dublin pretty well. Its quite unique in that you can go to a pub and after a couple of pints you'll end up talking shite with the people there and having the craic. In general people are more open than most major cities and are not afraid to look side ways at each other in case the other person mugs them.

Any up to date recommendations? Heard the Dice Bar is meant to be lively.
