For anything work related... a thread to answer questions about employment.
- Seek advice and ask about work or post information about potential job opportunities that you think might be of interest to other Fukers.
- For work dilemmas and queries or just general chatter.
There's always a great deal of talk spread across threads regarding employment and work - (Universities, Teaching English).
What with many of you being workers: use your knowledge to field those questions and help each other out.

Current NMW rates
There are different levels of NMW, depending on your age and whether you are an apprentice. The current rates (from 1 October 2011) are:
£6.08 - the main rate for workers aged 21 and over
£4.98 - the 18-20 rate
£3.68 - the 16-17 rate for workers above school leaving age but under 18
£2.60 - the apprentice rate, for apprentices under 19 or 19 or over and in the first year of their apprenticeship
£2.60

I get £7 an hour as a customer assistant, didn't realise minimum wage wasn't much below that.
Need to read up on human rights for an interview, especially with regards to NI. Anyone got anything I should definitely be reading? Gawk maybe?

Has anyone got a good example of a "cold-contact" covering letter that they could send my way?
