For anything work related... a thread to answer questions about employment.
- Seek advice and ask about work or post information about potential job opportunities that you think might be of interest to other Fukers.
- For work dilemmas and queries or just general chatter.
There's always a great deal of talk spread across threads regarding employment and work - (Universities, Teaching English).
What with many of you being workers: use your knowledge to field those questions and help each other out.

Thanks Homer - there is a branch here but they just seemed to offer accountancy jobs.
Is anyone temping? Beginning to look an attractive option.
Off topic but is it normal for an employer to contact you on holiday and ask you to cut your holiday short? I've said no. Bastards!!!!!

the cracks are starting to show on ruby on rails as not a scalable framework. its lovely to develop on, but i don't think i would like an enterprise scale system on ruby. Some companies who have gone from java to ruby are coming back to java.

You haven't met my boss! The cunt can't be trusted. Last time I gave up a holiday and worked instead he stiffed me. So he can whistle. This worm is turning (no Ronnie Barker). I'm kind of loving spending time having a lie-in and having nice unhurried lunches.
All joking about working in O2 aside, did you have much working capital when you went alone? I'm getting desperate and I just can't do this anymore.

23K? 23 quid?
Seriously, I can't express the dread I feel every day I go to that place. Can't help thinking that if I put the same energy into my own business that I would be so much better off.

I wish you had said 23 quid! Realistically, I knew it would cost more. Ever thought of branching out to Stortford?
Might just have to get some temp work lined up and then threaten to leave.

I currently potwash on £4.00 an hour, haha. Im pretty sure I will be getting fired soon though, I don't know what to do with myself man.. Im on my first pilots license but shit it seems too hard to get to the top, unless you can be extremely efficient with your money it costs a good 50k for commercial training! Im starting to take a big interest in english language and Media, what kind of courses are there at UNI for that?

I have an interview soon with PwC, have you any you gone through the application process (tests, interviews, role plays etc)? If you have, could you please give me some tips on what to expect please.
Oh, I have to ask, if I get a new job and my new employee asks for my P45, would they accept a P45 from an older job instead of one from my current employee? Both jobs are in the same tax year.
It's just that the company I work for are moving offices and most records have been moved elsewhere, they cannot take anything out because they have recorded and catalogued the documents. They also have sought legal advice and are allowed to keep certain documents including P45s for a temporary period of time unless of course there is a huge legal implication.
Thank you in advance.
