Wonder what odds I'd get on Heskey scoring and doing his DJ celebration.

I'd just stick with the lottery greybot Eye-wink

What team will england put out?

Goalkeepers: Robinson or James?! Eek

Defense: presumably G Neville, Terry, Rio, A Cole maybe Richards in for Rio? so a fairly settled proven defense.

Midfield: Beckham, Lampard, Hargreaves and possibly Gerrard all out?

Forwards:Smith isn't a striker, Crouch barely gets a look in at Liverpool, Defoe barely gets a look in at Spurs, Heskey Laughing out loud,Owen played how many games in 2 years? Johnson hasn't scored this season, Young would be his first cap.

im not confident about either match, still not 100% on Mclaren. God knows why they have brought back the donkey. Should be a couple of interesting matches managed to get decent seats for both matches (no topper)

Hargreaves now injured!! Crouch has one match ban, Beckham injured, Fat frank doubtful. Gerrard might play

Want to see JAMES in goal rather than "flap and hope" Robinson

Will James cope with the pressure though? He's doing well at Pompey but there is no pressure on him there whatsoever, no dis Portmosuth fans.

Anyone think all the foreigners in the premiership are starting to harm the england team? You've just got to look at the strikers in that squad to realise it.

How much does everyone care about their national team? I obviously want to see us do well, but i wont be devestated if we get beaten on saturday. For me my club team is far more significant

i disagree, i think that english players just arent up to scratch these days. English kids would rather be on the street drinking, taking drugs and generally clowning around, than be playing football. If we stopped foreign players in this country then we would just have second rate premiership teams, with players from current championship teams and div 1 teams filling the gaps that foreigners would leave, but this wouldnt make these players any better, and thus the national team would be the same.

Agreed! World Cup 1994 was so disappointing as a kid having to watch all the other countries involved and after we'd come so close in 1990. 1996 was what being an England fan is all about. We need the passion back!

so true, how depressed will the whole country be, i still have faith we'll qualify, although we need to pull our socks up and put some effort in

I actually prefer watching the world cup / euros as a neutral cos you appreciate the football. As soon as Scotland go out (Day 8 of the competition Laughing out loud the pain normally subsides when england follow 4 days later though Eye-wink) I lose interest all together.

I can quite easily see a draw against Israel and then beat Russia.
For the greater good that might not even be such a bad thing. McLaren is a cock, full of soundbites but no tactial awareness.

Every 2 years I spend the first six months getting more & more excited the nearer we get to the kickoff spouting on about how we have got a squad to win it etc but by the end of the second game we play it dawns on me again that I clearly know fuck all about football....

The sole reason everyone up here wants england to fuck up at every opportunity - MEDIA HYPE.

I think we're actually not doing to bad, considering the size of our population. And there are some decent players too, they may not be world beaters, or nice to watch, but they get the job done.

23rd in the world with a population less than one tenth of the country who are 12th. Now, I'm no whiz at maths, but I have a feeling that means we are more talented.
