Drop all those too old for 2014 World Cup and try to have a good tournament (quarter finals?) in Euro 2012. Lampard and Terry being out for these first two games can only be a good thing for looking forward.

Got to play Walcott, A Johnson, A. Young, Hart, Dawson and Lescott at the minute. Upfront would like to see Zamora and Bent with Crouch on the bench.

Barton is scum but deserves a look in if you ask me.

In two years time I hope Adam Johnson is getting regular football, Wilshere is fit and living up to his promise, Cahill has two years champions league football under him and Ox/Welbeck have progressed.

Mistake was keeping Rooney on and Milner starting. It os like Hodgson was pushing for pens by keeping Rooney on. Suprised Ox didn't get played at all.

Anyone feeling proud?

Obv Ireland were shit, but there's always been criticism of trap, over style of play, as a fan if I was English I wouldn't want to see my team play like that! Defence was brilliant, but other than, really shit tbh.

We have no flare players, just a bunch of players that get thrown on to protect a one nil lead.

I hope we don't have to carry our supposed world class player Rooney for another tournament

Typifies Italy's performance.

England reached the stage they should really, which I think probably could have been achieved without such a negative approach.

no shame in losing to Italy, a good side made to look better by our inabilities. It looked like we had a man sent off the space that Pirlo was afforded. i thought Rooney was supposed to be picking him up. now time to clear the decks and call time on Gerrard, Terry (hate him but he was immense) Cole (ditto bar the pen), Lampard, Barry etc and go with the youth. Rooney, a massive let down again, thought Carroll and Welbeck were excellent. same for Parker but at his age he is hardly the future. I was very disappointed with Hart during the shoot out. didn't get close.

Great points Cov. We were outplayed but had a great chance being 2-1up to do it. I really hope Young finally gets back to reality now. He was a great player for us when an unknown, but his ego has took him far too far. Cunt.

Hopefully the main positive now, is reading this thread back tomorrow on how Noble had a good night fucking that bar maid and uploading some videos backing up his claims on her dirtiness.

It's hard to understand why we aren't able to pass the ball and keep possession, it was the same every match. It's like the basics of the game.

England look so nervous in possession and slowing to a crawl on a 'break' while racked with indecision. Played a few cute passes in the first 20 mins then it just dissolved to the same old... Think Roy has done the best he can under the circumstances though.

They've certainly performed like it, but I don't understand the mentality of England having supposedly average players.

Form aside - if they were available on free transfers tomorrow, the majority of England's starting eleven would be coveted by the top 7 or 8 clubs in European football, no?

Worst England team of my lifetime.

I really think Hodgson is to blame. Good players but ridiculous tactics. People keep blaming Ashley Young, saying he played terribly but he had to adapt to a shit set of instructions.

Such a negative set of tactics for a realistically, if played to their strengths, are a slightly above average team.

bar two or three covering blocks he was awful, his positioning at times is comical and he's a headless chicken going forward. Not even our 3rd best right back imo. Terry pipped Parker as England's best.

i can imagine the phone conversation now..... "hi barca, Milner is available on a free, you will obviously continue his £100k a week wages, how much shall do you wanna give him as a signing on fee? £5m or £7m??"

john terry on 150k a week, gerrard on 100k these players would go nowhere on a free, even rooney on his wages his a massive gamble with a half price transfer.
