Drop all those too old for 2014 World Cup and try to have a good tournament (quarter finals?) in Euro 2012. Lampard and Terry being out for these first two games can only be a good thing for looking forward.

Got to play Walcott, A Johnson, A. Young, Hart, Dawson and Lescott at the minute. Upfront would like to see Zamora and Bent with Crouch on the bench.

Barton is scum but deserves a look in if you ask me.

No no no. Wrong context. Pirlo was sick. Reus' goal for Germany against Geece = Beast.

may i just pose a couple of questions to you lot?
thanks. what was the primary objective of this team if it was conceded from the get go that the team was not capable of winning the tournament or even seriously challenging for it?
bringing in a coach with only one month to prep, what else could they do but use this tournament as a building block for the young players that will be coming through and set them up for the 2014 world cup?
beginning with the team selection it didn't appear that this was going to be the case, and the starting eleven and tactics employed throughout the tournament doesn't seem to suggest this was the case either.
so it leads me to infer that the primary objective was to reach the quarterfinals to ensure the fa would have more revenue coming in for making it to the knockout round, as opposed to going out early (i'm not sure how much more the teams are given, but with the french players and their negociating with their fa it was 140,000 euros). if this is truely the case, i feel they could have achieved thie objective of making it through to the quarters while solidifying a strong base of young players to set them up for tournaments beyond, as someone ahd mentioned previously. in essence killing two birds with one stone..

quarters was the most any person who knows football could ever possibly expect. even if we had of not made it out of the groups ,that would of been no shock or an unexpected dissapointment either. quarters is the same as winning it is to germany or spain is to us. that was our final.
that was our final and the furthest we will ever get in any tournament in most peoples lifetimes on this forum *. deffo mine.

* maybe, just maybe squeeze a semi (no homo) if we ever host another tourny.

i'm with you, especially as this wasn't under normal circumstances. ie roy only had a month to prep for it. so maybe with that in mind, they shouldn't have started from complete scratch in order to set themselves up for 2014, giving the new coach a resonable amount of time to get his players in and instill his tactics and phillosphy.
i still think the youth of the prem could have gotten them through to the quarters with maybe one or two 'experienced' players in to help supervise things.

And what happens if all these magical "young" players lose all three group games, don't progress as players and end up playing in the Championship? Do we do the same thing in Brazil and hope they do better?
Ideally we would have had players like Wilshire, Rodwell, Richards in the squad but two of them are long term injured and the other would rather go on holiday than play for his country.

The only was we'll ever get better is a fundamental change in the coaching philosophy in this country... There's more chance of Jordan Henderson playing for Barca than that happening unfortunately.

How can we have gone so far backwards in 15 years? We seriously miss a player like Gazza or Beckham now.

Remember watching this performance and being so proud. Didn't half ping it about.
