Anyone suggest a good compact digital camera for about £150? Just for sticking in pocket, but that takes an alright photo?

Choice is beserk I know. Not seen that model bud but I bought an IXUS for an old lady friend a few years back as a point and shoot and it was superb. Very small, simple to use, good battery life and very good pics for size.

Great thanks mate :col: S90 looks great but cant really find one for sub 150 and its for the missus as part of her xmas so needs to be new. Think Im going to go for one of these:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Canon-IXUS-220-HS-Optical/dp/B004M8S210/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1323859437&sr=1-2
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Panasonic-Lumix-TZ8-Digital-Camera/dp/B0031MA10I/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1323859342&sr=1-2

If anyone has any other suggestions let me know, probably order it tonight.

Cheers Smiling

Assuming your girlfriend is small Eye-wink I would go for the Canon over the Panasonic.

The TZ8 is considerably chunkier than the IXUS 220 (bigger in every direction and is over 3cm thick against under 2cm for the Canon), and 100g heavier.

Thanks Andy, yeah that was putting me off the Panasonic slightly it does seem a bit more bulky.

Plus I found out Canon are doing £20 cashback on it, which I think has swayed me.

Cheers Cool

I'm taking my new camera on some Asian adventures. I think it's covered by my contents, but does anyone else insure their camera separately?

Found this place ace for buying cameras & general electronics, based in Germany:
http://www.computeruniverse.net/

They will let you order as a business too, so get a lend of a VAT number & you'll save yourself whatever it is in the UK right away on top of the savings.
All you do is fill in the number, company name & then your own home address...no questions asked

I got a Canon 550D with 18-135 kit lens delivered for about €680 when it was still €1049 to buy in Dublin...covered by European warranty too Eye-wink

Covered up to a few hundred by contents. I've insured my SLR in the past, cost £100ish. Personally I wouldn't bother if you take care of it. I haven't for the past 20+ trips. Bet I lose the fucker now haha!

Not an option unfortunately. Needs to be a direct replacement, brand new.
What's the Nikon D3100 like in comparison to the D60?

I found a really good family photo standard sized film photograph earlier today.. scanned it on to the pc and it looks great. Will it look crap if it's enlarged a lot and framed?

If you scanned it at a really large dpi (400+) it should be fine, if not there's loads of software out there which makes it look a lot better, one that comes to mind is alien skin blow up.
