If someone tells you they don't want kids, you don't need to try convince them "it's different when they're your own" - chances are, they've already pondered that, but have still decided against procreating for whatever reason(s) they see fit. & YOU may see renting a property as "a bottomless pit", but some people just aren't comfy with the idea of borrowing £150k+; or bothered about investing so much money & time into - what is essentially - a possession.
What makes me cringe the most, is that a lot of the people who are most outspoken on these subjects seem to be so in an attempt to reassure themselves it was what THEY wanted; that they weren't pressured into doing these deeds by needy partners, or pushy parents keen for them to live their lives in the way that society 'expects' them to.
Let's all just mind our business & do what makes us happy as individuals.
