Kind regards,
Beginning in January I will be living in Paris and going to school for some time. During some weekends, I wish to travel to London and possibly surrounding areas. Though I have one concern - I would more than likely not always want to stay in a hotel or some sort of hostel - I was curious to know the reactions many people living in London will have if they come across a man in his early 20s, such as myself, sleeping in the woods. One can certainly get away with this in many midwestern cities, though I am asking this ahead of time to avoid any severe injuries or theft that may occur as a result from me being too naive in thinking I might just get left alone.
Failing this I would then just limit the number of trips I make to London to the times when I have extra money for housing.

whole families of people live in tents and stuff in places like oregon. Its really not the done thing over here. Dont attempt it somewhere like hampstead heath . Anywhere near cities in the UK is pretty rough and i would say its just too risky.Specially as an american.

I wouldn't recommend it. You might be OK but you could equally easily get a kicking from some nutter.
You can get a room pretty cheap in a hostel or something.

I was slightly worried to hear what you lot are saying. Suppose the same holds true in New York and elsewhere as well. Might still be worth a try if I find a remote place..
Otherwise I could just stay with one of you guys and then you can come stay in my apartment in Paris whenever right?

If only it were Tokyo and you'd be fine.
I've seen many drunk businessmen who have missed the last train home lay out their blazers on the pavement as a duvet with mobile phone & wallet beside them in the open sleeping away happily with no hassle (or theft) whatsoever!

Just get yourself a cheap Caravan, park it where ever the hell you like and when the council try and evict you, claim its a violation of your human rights. Pikeys have been doing it for years.

do it but alert the authorities - you'll probably end up with a council house within few weeks.
