Had a great/good/indifferent/downright awful meal at a restaurant, then please add it in here and describe what you had, value for money, ambience and quality of the grub etc. (if you can get a pic of the place or nick the menu to show on here than all the bettter)
doesnt matter where it is, if you liked it or hated it, then tell us all.
please no b.k, maccydees, k.f.c or nandos.....cos contrary to popular opinion on here, these are not fine dining nor proper restaraunts.

to start the thread off, here is the 2009 top 50 places to eat in the world this year, anonced this week.
suprisingly 'the fat duck' retains its second place even after making hundreds of people viloently ill and having to shut for nearly a month.

starter (sausage and potatoe thingy) was good.
but the bucket of seafood was lame.. had quite a few muscles with grit in it!
bacon ice cream was amazing though.

I was there Saturday as well, I enjoyed it, but you're right about the bucket, far too many gritty mussels. But the crab was good, as were the clams. That bacon/peanut butter ice-cream was amazing, one of the best deserts I've had in a long while. Really nice, really strong cocktails too.

We left at about 5 to go to a BBQ, did you stay for the DJs?

nah.. we went to pub on the park after.
was there for the 1.30 slot and stayed until about 3.30 ish.
did a few tequila shots with the jose cuervo guy and a few too many of those cocktails which were ace.
crab was good.. but not enough of them in our bucket!

'shit' was harsh.. it was a good laugh, just bloody cold that day.

Yeah it was freezing. We would have been there the same time then. I was the tall, handsome guy in the COS varsity. Did you try a lobster corndog?

nah.. was still hungover from the night before, they looked good though. - we were the group on the bank of chairs closest to the ice cream bit. 4-5 blonde girls and 2-3 guys.
you weren't part of the tarquin crew next to us?
i was pretty oblivious to my surroundings but i do kinda vaguely remember seeing a tall handsome guy there in a varsity.
cant rememeber what i was wearing.. but i was the only brown (skinny token) in the place.

No, I was with my girlfriend and this annoying girl who was telling me she was a 'freelance actress and journalist who was learning the Russian alphabet' (lol), sitting across from the bar. I certainly saw a brown gentleman, so I'll assume that was you.

oh yeah and Albion bacon sandwich for breakfast, not impressed, stottie type bread doesn't soak in enough fat and bacon was a bit overdone for me - that light brown style of dry crisp (nor was it smokey bacon so don't really qualify as bacon in my eyes)

meat/liquior or whatever the one behind oxford st is called, was ok,I thinkIm not really on the burger hype,I dont like eating in the dark,it smells funny in there too, glad I had no que, nice cocktails though and fried pickles but overall nothing to really right home about.too much hype

Yeah i meant to post about that - I went to meatmarket last week and honestly prefer byron.

Speaking of which I don't fully understand the snobbery against byron (if there is any), it's reliably good quality. it's not cheap but not really expensive. I go for lunch sometimes and always enjoy it.
