So one of my close friends and his wife asked my to be Godfather to their son when I returned back from overseas and I have the Christening coming up in a few weeks and am clueless what to buy the young chap. Im not religious nor are they really but are having a bit of a do at the church and party after etc etc. I want to buy him something but haven't a clue what to get him. Anyone a God Parent anyone bought this kind of gift before? Any advice what to get him?

I always think opening up a savings account and making a reasonable deposit in it is a very good Christening gift

I was thinking the same, but his Dad says he already has a savings account and all the Grandparents and others have deposited money already. His Dad also said not to bother with that and he's not overly fussed what I buy him, but Id like to get him something as a gesture.

Something silver is traditional I believe, photoframe is a good bet, or cufflinks for when he's older?
Plus something small for the chap himself to play with.

i'm godfather to my mate's kid and i think we bought him a really nicely made keepsake box to put all of his 'firsts' in.
tbh, it's the thought that counts here. something to mark the occasion. presents get much more fun to choose with each b'day / xmas.

I bought my godson a silver money box, in the shape of a pirate ship, which I had engraved underneath.

I've got a link to the site if you want it, cost about £70 I think, and it was ready in 5 days

I opened a bank accounts for my god daughters and pay £10 a month into them, by the time they are 18 it might be enough to buy a t-shirt.
