After a cheapish suit for work. I dont need to wear a tie however.

I only have 2 suits at teh moment a dkny and a boss. The boss is a nice cut but its too big for me now and its not very durable it gets manky at the slightest thing.

Reason i need a new suit is that i have been hitting the gym hard recently after going single. Result is that i have lost a stone in weight and it really shoes with the other suits. What i would like is a more fitted suit

Was thinking Next or Marks for a decent suit for not much dough. Dont particulary want to spend more than 200 quid.

I am in Edinburgh by the way.

Any help appreciated

Are any of these cheap MTM places like suit supply using a proper canvas chest piece or using fused wool?

I wouldn't go near a suit jacket made from fused wool, maybe I've been reading too much styleforum but a full or half canvassed jacket drapes so much better and has a nice fat roll on the lapels.

Cheers, I guess the best thing is to look first hand... 50/50 Wool Poly blend probably going to be the best I can afford

I need a suit for general use e.g. work. Needs to be cheap, is charcoal grey, 2 button, the way to go? Has anyone seen anything nice on the high street? Ideally would like adjuster trousers with no belt loops but thats kind of unusual in my price bracket.

Having read the thread I have been previously put off by Zara in terms of quality, is M&S a good shout?

if you are in london, try stanley ley in middlesex street. 275 for 2 btn w trouser adjusters

Try TM Lewin (they'll need some tailoring, but they're good for the price) or Jaeger - i think both have sales on at the moment

Pretty sure Suit Supply used fused (it's not fused wool, more fused canvas, normally made of horse hair).

I think Reiss suits have floating, looking to find this out soon...

Bought an acquascutum suit and really like fit of jacket but trousers seem a bit mc hammer particularly at the back of the thigh.

Can this be sorted by a tailor - concerned that any attempts to narrow the leg will move the central creasing off line and the creasing looks semi permanent so don't think could repress?

Any successful similar narrowing done by fukers?

my scutum suit trews are like that, but ive learnt to deal with it, and actually come round to liking it. got turn ups done on mine as well for extra 'you cant touch this' goodness.

Laughing out loud @ Noble.
Sometimes when they taper trousers they do it from one side, which will take the centre creasing off position. If they open it up from both sides though they can taper it evenly without twisting the leg.
Had it done before on faded jeans to keep the fades central.

It is a massive risk tho if they fuck it up and you never wear said item.

Is leg taper from both sides a simple job for tailors or a 'tricky' repair?

Don't think it helps that I picked up a bargain fitted CK suit from TK as well so if I switch between the two the aquascutum trousers seem even more suggs/mc hammmer.

It'll be a relatively easy job for a decent tailor, kid unknown. Go somewhere where they'll pin them on you though. .

Its an easy job. I've had legs tapered and then let out again, is fine for trousers and soft denim jeans as you won't see the stitching holes as they close back up.
If you're around Richmond area, I'll give you my tailors details.
