Been told by Natwest I have to show one of these to open an account with them?

"An original HM Revenue and Customs Tax notifcation (P45 or P60 are not acceptable). Must have been issued within the last 12 months, and be valid for the current or next financial year."

Thing is I have no idea what it is?

Anyone able to help me here with some info?

are you self-employed? do you pay tax on your eBay earnings?

sounds like they're looking for a tax return

No i work as a holiday rep, so get fuck all money.

Have sold things on Ebay since I been back in November now up till now, about 2ks worth in total, and no aint paid tax on it.

Though you didnt need to pay tax up to a certain amount that you sell on Ebay etc?

technically you have to pay tax on any eBay sales, although a blind eye has been turned for a long time now

just found this on the HSBC site

http://www.ukpersonal.hsbc.co.uk/public/ukpersonal/personal_banking/bank_accounts/en/bac_identification.jhtml

seems like you only need one form of identification, so if you don't have a driving licence, passport etc then you need one of the HM Revenue and Customs Tax notifcations

Anyone able to help with this? I thought there was an agrement where you can sell up to X amount of moneys worth of your own stuff on Ebay before you had to pay tax?

If this is the case surely i could phone them and say i dont have the tax thing because i was only selling some things on ebay

why would natwest give a shit about ebay if you dont already have an account with them, and havent told them that you are making most / all of your income from ebay. How would they know? Ring them and ask, why are you even worried its from natwest, now if the inland revenue gets in touch with you then get worried.

This forum is turning into Matts question time, endless waste threads started with really basic questions that you could find ou the answer to by just searching on google.

I did search google to no avail. They know of my income from the last 3 months by checking my already open bank account. Just dont click on the threads i make if its such a hassle for you?

you dont pay tax on things you sell on ebay if they are your own personal items.

how many currents accounts have u got matt?
how is your credit rating etc?
a lot of fraud in banking these days..they will trebble check if u have many accounts etc.

thats probably all it is?

u do have to pay tax on stuff sold via ebay if it is new...but the ir will not look at u if u are small time.
also ur bank will notify the tax office on the same day if u withdrawal 3000 or more pounds in one go!

so the quiter u do things the better.

and if the ir do get in touch with u do not worry...just pay em and forget about it.

I already have 2 current accounts. One for my wages - as its the only account that doesnt charge to withdraw abroad. And one that is used to pay bills, like Sky, Broadband etc.

So this would be my third, which i guess is a lot in terms. All i have sold on Ebay is old clothes of mine, and mobile phone, xbox etc, so I guess i dont have to pay tax on that right?

So basically if I ring them and tell them about ebay, that should be about it right?

Yep, it's just your tax coding notice. P45 & P60 come from your employer, that's why they won't take them, P2 comes from us(HMRC). Just phone up 0845 300 0627 and ask for one.
