What got you into clobber and what were your first brands/looks ?

local 'fashion' (sic) shop Limeys was my first port of call as a yoot, when i was like 12, i saved enough for a long sleeve ralph polo (£55) then i got into the timberland stuff (bear in mind this is almost 20 years ago !) i had a blue logo sweater and some timberland deck shoes and some soviet denim, i thought i was rocking up the playground at the time (which i may well have been!) before that it was golas and primark ! what are everybody elses experiences ?

My first memory was really wanting a Spliffy waistcoat so so so bad. This was when I was about 11.

I have always been very interested in clothes, thats not to say I have always looked good as you pick up influences from around you.

I always wanted to be cool at school, Nickleson jackets, Schott jackets, Base London shoes, Ben Sherman wallabies ( Laughing out loud )

Then I got into 'streetwear' 'coz I was fat, and it made looking oversized ok.

I found here after finding it via a search for 'Zoo York' which led me to a Night Panda sale, and purchase, then I stuck around and that's about all the history of mine, that isn't already on the internetz. Laughing out loud

Topman and Burtons were my essentials. Got into trainers first as a teen and then the whole attire later on.

Always liked bright colours but now toning down on colours and going for a simple look.

Sorry I'm bored and my fingers are cold...
I'v always been interested in clothes, but only got into it a couple of years ago when I started earning. Thus could afford some "desginer clothes"
This gave me a flashback; Posting a picture on bebo. You know the type, posing in the mirror.
Diesel Jeans
Armani Jeans belt
G-star t-shirt
Diesel Hoody
Replay Jacket
Converse
Now searching for the picture, I thought I was the coolest person in the world Laughing out loud
Then one day, whilst searching for Diesel jeans I stumbled fuk, which has guided me ever since...

Trainers, being brought up on a council estate even the poorest kids in school had the best trainers. Turning up for school wearing anything less and you got shitted on big time. From there, everything else followed... Henry Lloyd, Moschino, Iceberg, Stone Island, Prada (through my teens) etc etc.

I've kept alot of my clothes over the years even tho I don't wear 'em anymore. I might get some out the loft and take some pics so you all can have a good laugh Sticking out tongue

I was a late starter. I remember when I was 15 my mate was trying to get me into Firetrap and YSL but I just couldn't afford it, so I got a job at my local takeaway (no stereotype). When I was 16 and had finished my GCSEs I bought a £50 Quiksilver shirt to celebrate, I thought I was the don Laughing out loud From there it went on to Topman/River Island/Burtons. Then when I was 17 I got a job at a cinema so I was earning a bit more from doing weekend hours. I got my first Carhartt piece, one of their infamous canvas belts. Started buying into skate labels like Vans and was a fan of baggy jeans by Road. Bought into Bench and a few "Cult clothing" labels like Superdry. Discovered Dogfish at 18 and started buying more Carhartt stuff. At one point bought a Von Dutch tee, cost me £50 Oops Then got into G-star big time. Back then, 5 years ago G-star was pretty good and did some really nice basic stuff, before they turned into Diesel... Started to get into Diesel jeans. Got a job at Dogfish aged 19, which resulted me getting into fashion more, it got me into Stussy and Silas, then launched me into Bape and rare sneakers... as they say the rest is history.

I got my first bank loan about 5 years ago when I turned 18, bought a pair of the OG evisus with the white gulls on the pockets, an offkey moschino shirt and a pair of Exte shoes and never looked back, lol.

I've always wanted to wear different gear from everyone else up here and back then you'd be lucky to come across another person wearing any of those labels. It's a shame because I really loved evisu jeans, ended up with about 8 pairs.

probably from sportswear in the late 70's, when I really started getting into football. Branded goods (adidas primarily - the contrasting round neck t-shirts), started to become obtainable.
It all blew up in the two tone era ('79), when branded stuff became essential: Fred Perry, Lee rider jeans, DM's, Clarks desert boots, MA1's, the mod revival and the soul scene, which moved into New Romantic, then football casual all really quickly. Smiling

Oh I forgot, When I was about 11/12 I would only wear nike full stop. I think it was actualy an OCD. So that was my proper first interest in clothes. Inspired by all the coaches at tennis world, because thats what I wanted to be.

Laughing out loud yeah spliffy, karl karni (not the fakes), bolt blue denim - had an amazing pair with rainbow strip down the sides. Use to wear lots of Fila trainers. Mostly influenced by basketball stuff.

Teens it was moshino, schott, etc. Use to get most my gear in uxbridge - can't remember the name of the shop but it was next to the entertainer in the old shopping centre before the chimes was around.

laaaaaaaaaaaaaaate starter

i was about 19 when i started getting into the brands everyone was wearing in the mtb mags, basically bastard child skate style designs, prior and a bit post to this i wore shite apart from dropping about £100 every 6 months on a new pair of adidas trainers from the littlewoods catalouge a couple which hav been retroed only becuase i could pay back over 106666789 weeks, but then progressed to snowboard/skate brands year or so later until i stumbled across pushead nike sb's on ss20 when i was looking for some boarding gear, which lead me to ISSforums, and then to here, i visited here a few times when nike sb searches showed up in google, but never bookmarked it, only to stumble across it again months later when i joined up,

Yeah early teen years saw Kickers shoes, Spliffy bomber jackets and Caterpillar record bags knocking around big time, thats what first got me involved.

Completely forgot about Spliffy 'til this thread popped up, there used to be this great shop in Bromley that was full of it.

When I was a kid I was heavily influenced by my older brothers they were big into their labels/gadgets/cars, they'd be into Vivienne Westwood clothes and Bang Olufsen stereos etc. I went through the mad phases, from DM's to Iceberg, Moschino and D&G. At 17 I got signed by a modelling agency and became really good friends with a well known and well regarded photographer. I got into loads of different makes, through catwalk shows. (Always went back to Animal/Billabong/Jack Wills etc though) It was pretty mad seeing all these expensive clothes just hanging up in rows and rows. Made me want to run and grab it and shove it in my bag. I like big labels and then unknown ones, can't resist stuff like Dior but wouldn't turn my nose up at Vintage either.

When I about 10 I remember suddenly getting into skatewear, mainly because I had a fit babysitter who was a skater girl (no avril). I remember getting a pair of Pepe jeans that were waist 32 and were fucking huge on me. I think they were the smallest size they had and I insisted that they fitted perfectly. I then got a FCUK waxed jacket for Christmas and thought I looked fucking cool, obviously teamed with Oakleys.

Then got into the whole grunge teen thing...progressed to just band tees and baggy jeans until I was about 15/16 and I went to college. Suddenly reaslised I had like 5 different outfits and wanted to wear something different each day...Kinda went back to basics and worse skatewear...I remember also buying a Von Dutch hat around that time. Then got really into D&G, even though I couldnt really afford any of it. Progressed into the preppy look...mustve wasted so much on Abercrombie when i went to New York way before it dropped over here. I think the OC was to blame for this...Eventually progressed to liking Marc Jacobs for some reason, guess the preppyness of Marc by Marc...Moved onto leather jackets and skinny jeans when i was about 17. I remember buying my first pair of Diors about 2 years ago, loved them ever since. Kinda still in that phase but rather than Levi's, converse and ebay leathers its dior, YSL and corpus...

That was a nice trip down memory lane...
