Does anyone know what the difference between the 2008 release was to the originals or previous releases?

Different inner sole? Mine are from the history of air pack and have an air max timeline.

the 2008 version's infrared is more pink
and the 2005 (hoa) version has better materials
and the 2003 has brighter infrared that the 2005 and 2008 but cracks like hell
