Magazines first issue just out, great read for those of interest, bit pricey at £15 but got some fantastic pieces on nigel cabourn, daiki suzuki and where hes going next, yuketen, woolrich, and a parka review for the coming months, few behind scenes photos and write up's denim wise, mister freedom.
and a bit on albam, garbstore, gitman's, engineered garments, ndg, visvim and touches on the boot phase, a good read for those into it.

i think 15 quid is a good price,to start with its a import title so that already ads cost, its pretty much all content, very few ads and no real AD driven content, the mag is at a good starting point and I think currently fills a niche in mens publications much like New order dose in another niche group, the difference with these mags over say i-D dazed etc is instead of picking it up and reading one half page article on something your in to and then 50 pages of ads and 150 pages of stuff you dont have much interest in, you get pretty much a mag full of features about things/brands you may like.

I totally disagree, Im bored of the net, being able to google and find things is great but to be honest it means nothing to me unless Im then able to see it in the flesh or own something physical same as digital photography it serves a purpose for industry and fast media, but if people stopped printing pictures whats to say in 10 years time all your file types will be dormant.
I can understand reading the paper online and reading something like gq or fhm as the content is vaild for a month and then generally is out of date, proper mags with features on things your in to, or photographers work need to be in print as the content will be relevant if not more relevant in 10 years time when it would no longer be online

You cant view the magazine online, so its either buy it or don't see it, i like a bit of reading fodder lieing around, im the same with records yeah its great to have the mp3's at hand online etc but it doesnt come close to opening up a big 12" piece of vinyl with full artwork

for £15 I aint bothered in seeing it.
I do like mags but the problem is that you find a good one and you get hooked. I used to be a regular buyer on quite a few, most become repetitive quite quickly and there are mags for everything. I used to buy Nat Geo, a few fashion mags, photography, mountain biking, Mac/computer design etc etc and just about any other hobby I slightly touched on. They quickly add up.
These days I find just about everything I need on the net when it comes to the likes of fashion, although I occasionally dip into the freebies lying around at work. For reading fodder I prefer to buy a few choice books from time to time.
I still think £15 is a cheek for any publication.

There only out every 6 months, twice a year, as seenmy said its nice to have one filled with everything im into and not like the usual rubbish the fashion mags churn out monthly

But the internet is a really useful way to back catalogue articles. If I want to read that New Yorker one where Malcolm Gladwell does a 10 pages critique of the Long Tail, I don't want to have to phone up my mate and ask if I can rummage through his attic to find it.

yeah for random things the net is great but as he said "proper mags with features on things your in to" then you wouldnt be asking your mate to rummage through his loft because it would be out on show ready to read

also whats to say it will always be online, and you know within a few years everything online will begin to become pay per view its free now but wont be forever.
personally I like owning things,I like buying things Im interested in and I like knowing that I have it tucked away somewhere this isnt to say that I might have it on a digital file somewhere also but I like to have the physical thing that is mine. Also if you are in to more niche or low circulation magzines books etc you arent going to find them scanned up on the web for free download.
and really £14 isnt that much its essentailly a pint and pub lunch

I agree with what you're saying about the durability of printed magazines compared with internet based/digital media, however I'm not so sure about the suggestion that Inventory Magazine is the sort of thing that's particularly worthwhile preserving in this way (and paying £15 for the privilege).
It's counterintuitive, but digital media have a much shorter lifespan than physical media, because of the rapid obsolescence of software and hardware used to access digital data. When this stuff is on the internet, it can also be taken down without warning. A printed mag doesn't have these problems, however isn't it a bit disingenuous to suggest that a magazine is preferable for a sort of archival use? A magazine is really a throwaway printed format: they're not made for longevity.
Inventory is a magazine for the heritage (or geography teacher) trend, which is partly about wearing quality garments with a long life. These garments cost a fair bit; the high cost is justified to some degree because of good quality and a measure of exclusivity. The durability and longevity of workwear/heritage clothing implies that they're garments we'll wear for a long time, outlasting trends and seasons. So, a magazine about these things that we're buying today should be relevant for a long time too. I think that this heritage trend is a fashion trend like any other, short and throwaway, and issues of Inventory won't be relevant enough for long enough to be worth keeping. Really, this is also true for the majority of fashion mags: there's not many of them that are worth keeping (I do have a number of issues of Fantastic Man gathering dust under my bed, though).
In addition, charging £15 for what is essentially a massive advert for Viberg, Quoddy and SNS Herning is extremely cheeky. Who are they trying to kid? Come off it: it's a blatant rince. At least all these blogs on a similar theme, which are generally (some exceptions ) thinly disguised puff pieces for the clothing featured in them, don't make you pay through the nose for the privilege. I don't mind paying £5 for a wanky fashion mag, but £15 is outrageous. I bet they think they can get away with it as it's marketed at people who pay £150 for a pair of jeans.
