Quote:

Jack Straw, the ex-foreign secretary, has angered Muslim groups by suggesting women who wear veils can make relations between communities more difficult.

The Islamic Human Rights Commission said the Commons leader's request was selective discrimination.

If I walked into a shop wearing a balaclava I would be asked to remove it I'm sure. How anybody can see properly when wearing one to drive is also beyond me. They do nothing but segregate the wearers from the Uk population.

everyone is way to touchy about these matters. its gonna kick off big time over here soon and no doubt it will be over a head scarf or summin pointless.
what gets me is the muslims that say theres only a certain amount of people who want trouble. but even they, the most placid, law abiding muslims go absolutley mental when someone says ANYTHING about there religon.

they propa get the hump! and what kills me is i dont belive in religon at all. so all this killing and all the pain is basically over nothing. thats what make sme think. there crying about insulting there religon and there god BUT thers a high chance that none of it is real.

religon confuses me no end and what makes me sick is that our whole lives (news, papers, tv, even films now) are consumed with it. and to think that there might be no god?!?!?!? whats the point.

All a fuss about nowt really. He just asked them, and according to him, they obliged.

If they didn't want to take them off, I am sure he wouldn't have had them forcibly removed.

I really can't see what people are going on about. But I can deffo see his point. They might be pulling faces or mouthing "That's a Lie", and he would never know.

im not racist buy any means but what gets me is how quick people are to pick up on this shit.

Kids in English lessons, in English schools in England have interprators because they cant speak English.

National flags have to be taken down for fear of offending people.

Two points that annoy me

1. Could British people in Muslim countries expect the same tolerane and aceptance of their religious practices where they to move (in mass numbers might I add) there? I think not. I fully agree with the situation in France where a law has just been passed forbidding muslims from wearing traditional regalia and the government has simply said if you don't like it, tough, leave.

2. While it is true Islam has been hi-jacked by fundamentalists and may not be the violent religion we are lead to believe, I think the muslim community could do a lot more to distance itself from these extremists, rather than giving them their silent complicity.

Rant over!

Pull your head out of your politically correct arse love , I dont think that anyone has said anything remotely offensive .

It pisses me right off that people pussy foot around these issues because they are more often than not afraid of pitch fork weilding people playing the tired old race card

Im just off to pop me white hood on and meet up with the brothers now Laughing out loud

Agreed . Religious works are often twisted out of context to suit certain groups

Up until recently there haven't been many, but quite a lot have been moving in in the past few years jaer!

It's quite funny tho, because if a muslim moves into a Protestant area he is knwn as a "prod muslim" and regarded as just one of the Protestant community!! Have actually seen muslims at various parades in Rangers shirts lol

And on a side note, the Gers have released their home shirt with no Carling logo so as not to offend muslim fans! and to think us Rangers fans r regarded as neo nazi thugs! Jawdropping!
