Who's got one? Who's buying one? Anyone know how easy it is to find "free" books? |

I think there's loads of free "out of print" ones like Dracula and things who's copyright or whatever has run out. Ask Rez for full details, I'm sure he will be more knowledgable than me. |

Kindle can read PDF files so you can use your torrent software to download these from most of the reputable torrent sites. |

Most download sites offer a PDF option right? Why not just get an IPhone/IPad? |

Most download sites offer a PDF option right? Why not just get an IPhone/IPad? Most commercial sites only offer DRM protected downloads, but the less legitimate sites will have at least some PDF downloads. I found emule particularly good for older, harder to find stuff while torrent sites are much better at current releases. As for the iPad - it is absurdly expensive as an ebook reader and has a glossy screen that gives you a headache when reading too much. The screen on the Kindle is way ahead for readability. Then there is battery life - up to 10 days of constant use with the Kindle or 10 hours with the iPad. Not much of a contest if that is the application it is needed for. thanks Iain |

Kindle is the best e-reader so far, much more comfortable to read than the Ipad as Bulgaria mentioned. |

I just think the Kindle is pretty limited for the price it costs. Personally, I thought they were terrible to read. I guess it just depends what you plan to use it for - if it is academic then fair enough, but I couldn't get used to looking at that screen for enjoyment. |

I don't think the price is unjust, on the otherhand the Ipad is a total different kettle of fish. The only gripe against the Kindle using the missus is no touchscreen, so used to my electronics have touch controls now. |

Are these any good? Are the newspapers any good on them ? Are they easy to use (for an 80 odd year old )? |

Maybe he wants a friendlier on the eyes e-ink screen? Kindle is better screen can vouch for that, not got one myself but have had a go on one recently. I own an iphone and ipad and reading on those devices is a strain. Although ibooks 2 has that reverse colour option which is slightly better (black background, white text) |

Free books or "free" books? I used warezbb, loads of choice. Dunno what registration is like. I'd recommend Calibre for converting books and getting all your "free" news etc. |
