Saw Prometheus last night, it was garbage. Fassbender was excellent but he was, as a mate put it, just a better looking HAL. Disagree on Noomi, thought she was shit 'n all - when she talks *spoiler?* about being barren it comes out of nowhere, packs no emotional punch and just wrecks the whole performance for me.
The whole thing is obviously visually stunning but just so disjointed - no tension what so ever. You just don't care when people are dying. Agree about the directors cut, you get the feeling Scott was making an epic and then just smashed in a load of action at the end and failed on both fronts.

On a plus point the bit were the two aliens buck at the end is immense, the post-coital hug is one of the most tender moments I've ever seen in the cinema.

I watched it today too, it was no Alien but it was alright, it felt like there was shitloads missing to me, the plot seemed to bounce about with no explenation I expect there will be a directors cut with an extra hours footage

Makes me wonder if Scott wanted to do something separate from Alien and the studio put him back on track.

Still wish they'd done a sequel, discounting Alien 4 and set it on earth or on an Alien hive world. Always a chance People were going to be disappointed with Prometheus because it reveals too much about the Space Jockey.

Weird thing about Prometheus is it sometimes felt like it should have had David as the lead.

Hero.

Never got round to seeing it, but always loved Crouching Tiger, House of flying daggers etc. Not as good as those two, but still pretty OP.

Saw Prometheus last night at the imax, was fucking brilliant. I really don't understand all the hate/indifference going on in here.

Word. Visually it was stunning and I really liked the way each version of the story was drenched in a different colour

Saw Prometheus last night, and whilst it did kind of lose its way towards the end, it's no surprise it took such a theological turn given the screenplay was co-written by Damon Lindelof of Lost fame (we all know how that turned out). The best sci fi movie for so long, and some of the thematic parallels with Alien are Cool , so glad I watched it a month or so ago. First two thirds - 9/10 final third 7/10.

And the trailers gave far too much away, would have been a far better movie if the trailers only showed footage from the first half of the movie.

Also on that note there were 3 different trailers for the Spiderman reboot when I went (looks like what you'd expect), but totaling about 20 mins seen most of the film already.

Just back from Prometheus. Thoroughly enjoyed. Found Stringer quite irritating though.

Went to the Australian premiere of "Shut up and play the hits" at the Opera House. Was really fun atmosphere, people applauding after songs etc. Not normally into "band films" but this was cool.

I found I strange how:

Although Idris Elba obviously had his own character arc and motivations, Ravel and the other pilot he had the bet with we're so giddy in the face of that suicide mission. That's the only part of the movie that was completely jarring for me. Two guys who have been completely ambiguous throughout with film with regards to morals and motivations, and seem totally cynical about the whole mission (betting on the outcome/motive etc) end up choosing certain death over escaping with Vickers?

Noomi Rapace's infertility was also a sticking point for me, I kind of knew it was coming because I'd paid so much attention to the trailers and what they outlined, but it was still a good part of the plot, albeit implemented through a very dodgy scene.
