I think his point is that to anyone off the street it's a bank clerks type of shoe. You're so caught up in a fashion bubble that it doesn't register...

they are just plain black shoes that any person on the planet would pick up if they were in urgent need for smart black shoes for a funeral. not really fashion as such imho.
just plain black shoes for when pain black shoes are needed for the average man on the street.
not beefing though, theres nowt wrong with them, and if they were expensive im sure the quality is op.
but very practical and plain and nobody would ever notice them are the things that come to my mind.

They ARE fashion shoes. I, for one, fucking hate them, and most other shoes wouldn't provoke that reaction.

Blandly bland shite. Or summit.

How tall are you Crackajack? Haven't found previous 1950s that long which is worrying.

you cant alter the length of shirts. never works.
dun care what anyone says. looks shit.
just go long casual (long feels wrong but no-one cares), and tuck in when smart.

Im just under 5'10, measure 31.5" from base of collar to hem in a medium - same as the large 1950s paisley I have.

Would look odd untucked with smarter trousers at that length on me

Thats my biggest gripe with these shirts. Fine on a day/night when no jacket required. Haven’t a clue with what to wear with them at any other time.

Sad . Liked the fit on the faded black denim they did in the 50s cut. Was hoping it'd be similar for this seasons.

@Crackajack. I'd need a Large I think and not much taller than you.

I thought a shirt being taken up was a quick and easy job for alterationists? Surely taking 1.5" off so it equals the length of a small wont cock it up

I've had it done and the hem looks exactly the same as before, just shorter obviously.

And Im sure they can/do fold it up when shortening so they can undo it if you dont like it
