I'm looking to spend sort of 350-450 tops on an LCD for my room. Needs to be easily hung. Can anyone recommend a really good set? Looking for it to be anywhere between 32-40". Better off shopping online or going to stores? Best brand to go with? Cheers.

nope. freeview needs a really strong signal from an aerial to work at all.

Unfortunately in london that is very true as it is the last place to get the analog switched off so the digital signal is still extremely low.

It is annoying as the quicker they switch it off the faster we could have HD freeview and also super fast mobile internet.

talking this year, london as soon as March 2010. Of course most freeview TVs wont be able to pic it up as it is a "new" standard of encoding (DVB-T2). So it will be an external box.

will be mid this year before new integrated HD freeview tvs are out.

Obviously the big push for the manufacturers / broadcasters is to get everything in place for the world cup.

If you go over to AVForums.com look in the DIY section, loads of guys make their own "floating walls" like that to mount their LCD's. If you're handy and wanna save $$$ it's a good option.

Depends on the output on your computer really.

Most computers don't have a HDMI output, most likely a DVI or VGA output.

Depending on what input your tv has, the easiest way would be to get a standard VGA>VGA cable, however if your computer has a DVI output, you can get a DVI>HDMI cable which is going to be better. If your computer has a HDMI output, you can just get a standard HDMI lead, which is going to be better.

All are available from eBuyer for cheap. Don't bother spending loads on expensive cables because it's a digital signal so better quality cables won't make the picture better. Hope that helps.

I was going to buy the very same one but if you look at the bottom of the page, I think it says that the offer has ended. You could try ringing them up though. I haven't seen any better deals than that on a 32" 1080p LCD TV. They do have this instead though. Worth a look.

I'm not big on Macs, but don't the new macbooks have a Mini DisplayPort on them which can be converted to a common connector? If so you need to buy something similar to this:

http://store.apple.com/uk/product/TX175ZM/A?fnode=MTY1NDA3Ng&mco=MTE0ODY4MzY

That's how it works out from what I can see, unless someone else corrects me, I'll check with the Mac bods at work tomorrow.

Audio on the otherhand you'll need to connect seperately using the headphone socket. Not sure how you would go about doing that though through the television, I use a seperate amp for everything, if you have a surround sound system or seperate speaker system it would be easier to channel it through there.

Thanks for the reply Cool

Yep got one of those mini display ports, so one of those adapters with a standard HDMI to HDMI cable?

Don't have a separate speaker system though..
