Seems that for whatever reason on here the levels of stupidity are rising. I fear for a great many fellow fukers and think that with help from each other we may help guide each other through life....

So you know those stupid questions you dare not ask for fear of looking foolish or maybe you have a situation that you feel the advice and experience of wiser people than you could prove invaluable, then post it here!

Maybe we can link the student thread directly to this one? Eye-wink

Steve Jones is that you? Would have thought they were paying you enough not to have to hawk tickets!

Decided I want to go abroad and do some volunteer work or something. Just do something different. I haven't a clue where to start looking, anyone done something similar?

On a similar tip to Alan, anyone ever tried an intensive language course?

I'm looking to move to France, and think one of these should improve my chances of getting a job there as I would hopefully be able to hold a (somewhat slow) conversation with people.

Anyone moved over to France in general?

I did a week long Russian course in Moscow a couple of years ago, one-to-one tuition, and learned a huge amount in that time.

Forgotten a lot of it now Laughing out loud I think the key to learning a new language is using it regularly, and an intensive course is the best way to get as up to speed as possible in my opinion.

I have a job interview for a retail manager position on Friday, anyone have any advice? I haven't had one for years and am quite nervous... Cheers.

@cutandpaste. Lived there for 4 years. Intensive language course helped but you've just got to get immersed in it and not be worried about making mistakes and looking stupid. Where you looking to go and what sort of job? PM if you want.

Did this which got me to Berlin and had an intensive language course attached. Government funded so won't cost you a penny. Got paid for working in an IT company before finding my feet and going freelance.

Canada give you a years visa/work permit so you can find work out here, but they ran out of places for this year already. Earliest you can get on it is January 2013 now, and you gotta be fast in applying or it will take ages for them to issue it.

Fully recommend it. Canada is awesome, eh Cool
