article basically explaining the mortage / house prices is what makes the difference between the North and south. Obvious of course. People on 2k/month can't afford £600,000 house shocker! They can't even afford a new horse!!1 It's a sad, sad day when 2k a month wont even get you a 600k house, two cars, three holidays a year and a horse without having to "micro manage" your economy |

That bloke must be the worst salesman in the world to take home less that £50k per year. |

50 tousand quid is just 74 thousand australian dollars. 74 thousand dollars is what chimney sweeps earn here. |

yeah so a 2 income family on less than $74,000 would be extremely rare in Australia. |

surely australia has tons of affirmative action to keep the white man away from that sweet, sweet chimney sweep money? |

for example when I put "chimney sweep" into payscale.com it came out as track sweeper, so went with that and got $80,000 a year. told you so. |

Buying my own house at 24 with my own cash is not working class Not bought it yet, searching at the moment but might be putting in a bid in the next few weeks. Of course mortgage, but no help from parents with deposit or anything. Well, apart from charging me cheap rent for living at home I was 22 when I got my mortgage. I don't see it as something special, that's what normal people have to do, plus we had a 6 month old baby. Not trying to sound like a dick, just not sure what your point means? Well you do sound like a dick. The average age somebody buys their first property is mid 30's. Plus you're about 30 or older, so when you bought your house they were giving out mortgages for fun 100%'ers being thrown around. Anyone could get a mortgage back then, and thats part of the reason the economy is fucked. It's the recession now. You can't even get a 90% mortgage really these days. So me buying a house and sticking down 18% deposit that i saved myself, in the current climate at my age, is actually quite good. I'm not trying to blow my own trumpet, but i don't know a single person my own age who has done that without the help of mummy and daddy. |
