Can anyone recommend Manchester's best club night(s)? I'm a long time out of the scene but listening to Maya Jane Coles DJ-Kicks has got me itching to venture back. That and being single and a bit miserable. One other thing - preferably somewhere with a 'mixed age' crowd!
Been looking for exact same thing in Manchester for years mate and for the same reasons. Cutloose at Roadhouse maybe. Been to some ok ones at Soupkitchen, but unless I’ve been looking at the wrong places, proper house music seems to have departed the city.

im just letting you know not to expect much. all the other old school yanks like snachez, van helden, mk and maw give you such a brilliant night. that cunt just plays all his own records and most of them are obscure breaks.

don't noble, you're making me long for the old days. when those guys, lord g, sneak, angel moraes, the subliminal lot and plenty of others were practically on rotation over here.

Best Manchester nights I have been too recently have been Homoelectric and Horse Meat Disco when they played up here - both gayer than messers norton, john & michael but brilliant. Mix of ages because gays dont know when to quit!
Other than that Kraak Gallery, Soup Kitchen and Joshua Brooks have good music policy/bookings. But mostly a younger crowd. Not sure if Mint Lounge do 'proper' nights anymore but they attract over 25s.

Its a small/medium basement venue with a decent bar upstairs, normally a student crowd but wont be at this time of year. Gets very hot and sweaty (good thing) and not expensive. Normally a really good crowd as people without an interest in music can go to Factory over the road or 5th Avenue

That's where Rolando is on Friday! Mate at work reckoned it was very gay on the night he went, doubt it will be for Rolando though.

Joshua brooks is ok and next door does real ale for 1.99 a pint before 7 and only 2.49 after!!!! Thats the cheapest beer i know in Manchester and it's good stuff, not shit watered down lager. They brew it themselves in the cellar, sounds dodgy but real ale fans will know it's good.

Lass O Gowrie? Odd crowd in there... the other pints are a really expensive if I remember rightly. New Blackdog few mins walk away good for pre club drinks in that area
