I can't believe this. Not happy. As if this was ever going to be on a Wii anyway, nintendo makes games for 6 year olds period.

Wasn't the original Manhunt banned, and then re-released, causing it to shoot to #1 in the Amazon console game charts

I bought Manhunt 1, it's crap, yeah it's gory but after about half an hour you're bored with it.

"In short, the BBFC believes it's not worth risking the game falling into the hands of kids"

Perhaps if parents had some involvement/responsibility it wouldn't ?

So will it be released on the NEXT-GEN consoles?

The first MANHUNT was pretty violent, but like NICK says, after a half-hour it does get VERY boring.

Games which are VIOLENT shouldn't just be BANNED, it's like the BBFC are trying to get some kind of KUDOS from doing so.

Aren't they all just UPPER CLASS ENGLISH TWATS who need to get out more? After all, these are the guys who are being SUBJECTED to all the PORN and VIOLENC which they deem UNFIT for us, but perfectly acceptable for them to view (for FREE).

Comments?

When you consider the violence/sex/gore that you can see in a 15 or even 12 rated film it does make the ban look rather silly.

Isn't it also fair to say that as POPULAR as video games are, VIOLENT, GORY, PORNOGHRAPHIC films are MUCH more widely available.

Almost everyone has access to DVD. Not everyone plays console games.

There is surely a difference between seeing a person being killed onscreen, to a computer character meeting the same fate?

The BBFC needs to GET A GRIP!

MrPlatinum,

That's a well thought out reply. You've been on this FORUM for three years eh? Time well spent.

Well its a little different to other games really.

Take GTA for example... you can beat the crap out of prostitutes in that and there is blood, but nothing excessive. However, that isn't the focus of the game.

Manhunt however is all about killing people, different ways of killing them with the most gore there is possible and that is the whole purpose of the game.

Can you see the difference?

Also after the first one being something of an influence on that child killer, it was obvious that the BBFC was going to take a hard stance on a sequel.

It will affect the publishers as they won't get a release here... Germany ALWAYS bans games that have gore and killing in them so they are going to loose out on european money.

Hey Sol,

Ofcourse I see the difference, I don't agree that they should ban the second after allowing the first to be released UNCUT.

It was unfortunate that MANHUNT influenced a CHILD KILLER, but that in itself doesn't constitute a BAN, in my opinion.

Parents are meant to vet the games that children play, and I don't think most ADULTS would act out what they see in MANHUNT 1 or 2.

It seems that although ROCKSTAR go looking for controversy, they are punished unfairly. It is only a game after all.

How do YOU choose WHICH words to put in CAPS and which words NOT to? To me IT seems PRETTY random.

I can remember when Carmageddon got banned in '97. That game kicked arse.

Here's a dedication from the first page of the CARMAGEDDON manual.

The founders of Stainless Software Ltd, Patrick Buckland and Neil Barnden, would like to dedicate this game to their wives, Janet and Pauline, and to Patrick's children, Julianne and Sean, who all suffered from the hours needed to put this product together. However, dedicating something so sickly depraved and violent as this diabolical piece of soul-poison to them just wouldn't seem a very nice thing to do. So we won't.

Tongue in cheek?
