After everyone's advice on here I 'got a Mac' recently... Been playing around with it and all going well... but wanna start making some tracks on it... Garageband is fun for an out of the box mess around, but I'm already getting frustrated with it's feel and ultimately its sound... so, opinions on whether i should a) persevere, get some tutorials/books and try harder to get into it or b) get some more recognised software and some hardware (guess this is needed either way) in the event of b) what am i gonna need as a basis for putting some decent sounding housey type tracks together? software/hardware wise? PS i have googled this and am just interested in getting people's opinions from here as i know there's a few producers knocking about thanks |

if you've just started there is no point going out spending money of gear, coz if you find out that your shit its a waste download some software like reason, and spend hundred and odd quid on a midi controller........................like this then just play around, it will take time but if your find that your enjoying yourself and your making something that sounds semi decent your on the right track if not you aint lost loadsa money, plus once you've learnt what your doing ya can then start to encorporate new techniques and gear into your music making |

exactly what a dub says. reason + ableton + vst's and a midi controller, you can do some damage with just that set up alone . once you feel you've gone as far as you can with that then incorporate hardware. but no need to think that far ahead. |

download a demo of ableton and work through the tutorials. Computer Music magazine also do really good tutorials. Then when you have your first royalty check, buy this
