hey - i recently bought an APC Madras shirt. Even though it is size XS it is really large fitting. The label on the inside says 100% cotton and to wash at 30 degrees. I really could do with it being a little bit more fitted so was wondering if anyone has any success/disasters shrinking cotton by putting it in at a higher temperature wash? Is this possible? Advice/stories, etc much appreciated. |

the general rule is 30 degrees = half a size so for example, if you want to shrink it by half a size, and the label says wash at 30 degrees, then you should wash it at 60 degrees (for the same amount of time) if you want to shrink it by a whole size you should put it in at 90 degrees if you find that you have shrunk it too much, just pop it in the freezer and start again |

i've washed shirts / t shirts at 90 and they have shrunk only a half size. maybe one size at most. you can probably wash the shirt hotter than you think |

Agreed, for the sake of £15 take it to a tailors, will look better than a shirt thats been through the wash too hot a few too many times! |
