I’m in LA for my last 3 nights, could have another night in LA if I want as we’ve got 4 days between SF-LA where we haven’t decided on where to stay.

We did 4 days SF > LA, stopped at Carmel & Pismo Beach on the way down, loads to see on the way.

Think we did 3 days in LA, highlights were lunch at Getty Centre up in the hills and unplanned Mos Def & Erykah Badu gig @ Hollywood Palladium Cool

PM me if you want info on hotels etc

Anyone been to Dominican Republic Punta Cana before? Thinking about heading over in Mid September for a week all inclusive etc. Is there plenty to do and has anyone ventured outside of the resorts to local towns etc? Any help would be appreciated Ubercool

Went in early September last year. Which hotel you going to? Hotels are excellent and beaches are fantastic also, crystal water, can swim out quite a way and walk along the beach for miles.

Not a lot to do outside of the hotel though unfortunately. Very poor area of the caribbean, a lot of the "towns" are run down and the roads aren't great to travel on (we were on a coach and were going through pot holes a good 8-10 inches deep and 6 foot wide).

If you want to go somewhere that you can travel to towns etc then I'd say go to Mexico over Dom Rep. I went there the year before for the same amount of money and found the food to be better and there was more to do outside of the hotels. Beaches were still great, people very friendly and climate is still the same.

Been there 2 years ago, while touring Scotland.
Landscapes are incredible, island is very very nice. I won't spend there more than one day and a half.
I suggest to stay there one full day, and to not sleep on the island cause is a way more expensive.
The only big issue is the weather...

Stayed down the road in El Gouna, very windy but I went for kitesurfing so was perfect. Also hot as hell in April, tops 45c+ over summer. Apparently Hurghada night life is pretty good, cheap to eat out, plenty of watersports if you don't want to sit & fry all day.

Take your life in your hands and use the tok tok taxi guys to get around Laughing out loud

Anyone here walked the whole of Hadrian's wall before? Anything nearby I shouldn't miss out on? Also where's best for a night out in Newcastle?

Anyone used travel insurance through their bank with Nationwide?

Do you have to phone em to tell em you're going?

quiet beaches.. seclusion fairly essential.
simple accommodation.
not a tourist trap.
