Flickr is by far the best site for uploading good quality pics, it uploads a full size pic and then offers lots of different size views of it, so it may well solve the problem (which presumably is down to detail being lost in compression to make the file size small enough) |

Sorry I couldn't find a larger photoshop thread, hence the use of this one. Looking for a favour here. Could someone either create or help find me a picture like this -
But on a larger scale, enough to fit a desktop wallpaper? I appreciate any help in advance. Thanks. |

So I have a photo I wanna upload to tinypic or imageshack, but when I do the colours lose vividness and fade. Is there any way to stop this happening? The likely cause of the colour shift you are experiencing is that you are working in a colour space such as srgb in photoshop, and when you are saving your images out you are embedding the working colour space into the image. This is all well and good if you are using a browser such as apple safari, as safari is capable of reading the embedded colour profile so your photo looks the same. however IE cannot read the colour profile so the image will appear lighter, likewise with Firefox 3 by default however there is a setting in FF you can enable to support colour profiles in images. Also worth mentioning is that a lot of websites such as myspace/facebook etc strip out any colour profiles when you upload images to their sites this will make your image appear lighter regardless of what browser you re using. The best workflow i use is to customise the working colour space so that it is my monitor colour profile. then when opening images in photoshop i convert whatever the colour profile given to the images by the camera (adobe rgb, srgb etc) to my working monitor colour profile. it is now a proof colour by default (what you see is what you get) and it is equal to that of a colour profileless image. now when i save the image out of photoshop i ensure not to embed the colour profile. your image will now be the same colour as it was in photoshop when it is uploaded to any site, and through any browser. likewise when saving for web this too can embed a profile and make the image, see below for futher advice on how to remove the colour profile embedding: http://www.viget.com/inspire/the-mysterious-save-for-web-color-shift/ Also save as PNG for highest possible quality. |

It's not the filehost (I thought this), it's your browser. If you're in Firefox sRGB profiles are disabled by default. However (haven't noticed this until recently so maybe if it's in a recent update to Firefox) if I use Convert Color Profile in Photoshop and select Adobe RGB then it comes out fine in Firefox. If I select Remove Color Profile it comes out washed out. I have no idea why this is the case but it works for me. |

because working in rgb you are seeing different colours to saving without a colour profile, you will see the colour shift. next time you open an image in photoshop go to View > Proof Setup > and choose Monitor. now what you see is what you'll get, if you save without a colour profile. (but you will see a shift from the original imported image in photoshop to the proofed monitor colour.) to avoid this colour shift and have your image retain it's original colours (from the camera assigned profile): open the image as normal in photoshop this is good because by converting in this manner we have retained the original colours produced by the camera. but now, because we are working in a colour profile equal to your monitor, what you see is what you get. this is regardless of whether you save with the colour profile embedded or not, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOT TO EMBED THE COLOUR PROFILE WHEN SAVING THO at least unless you are working for print. |
