Been in bed for best part of the last five days and starting to get tired of feeling this rough. I know there's no cure but anybody got any good remedies to make me feel a bit better? Sweet tea seems the best thing so far but it doesn't last. Maybe coffee would be good?

Take a red-hot bath, come out boiling and jump in the bed right away with 2-3sheets on top, or best wrap yourself in them so you can sweat like a dog. You'll feel much better after the sweating.

if you genuinely have the flu then sweet tea isn't going to help. if you actually have man flu then get out of bed and stop feeling sorry for yourself!

get some oranges, squeeze them into a mug with a fork (to about a quarter full) fill up with hot water and stir in a spoonful of honey, works a treat

As much vit C as poss. Oh and garlic tablets.

Also take stuf for flu during the day and at night when you are bunged up, take antihistamines, the ones that make you drowsy - the histhamine takes the swelling in your nasal passages down and they make you sleep.

Hope you feel better soon.

Green tea is good too, it helps your body flush the crap out.

It's not man flu! I started feeling faint and had a dry throat about 3 weeks ago and it's got gradually worse.

My symptoms:

feeling faint/dizzy all the time
no appetite
stiff muscles
dry throat which turned into a sore dry throat
fatigue
temperature
confusion when I wake up...this one's weird. I'll wake up from a dream and think it's really important to get back to what I was doing in the dream.
snotty nose (only had this in the last few days)
waking up covered in sweat

I'll try the orange/honey thing

Seriouly, Andy's right. I had proper flu when I was 15 and it's the worst I've ever felt in my life by a mile. Couldn't stand up, couldn't eat or drink - lost a stone and a half in a week (no Dior Homme). Had to get carried to the toilet and had to fucking sit down to piss! Sore head, vomiting (puked up everything I ate), the shits, sore throat, a really bad cough which stopped me from sleeping, hot and cold fevers. Fucking brutal.

You wouldn't be posting on here if you had the real deal. Just take loads of meds, drink loads of water and orange juice if you can, sweat it out and then get up and about.

This is the worst I've ever felt. Maybe I'm just less of a wuss than you or maybe you just had it worse?

I'm trying not to spend all day in bed as it isn't making me feel any better. I'm not the sort of person that spends all day in bed because of a cold and seeing as I live alone there's nobody here for me to try and get sympathy out of

From here http://www.homehealth-uk.com/medical/influenza.htm -

Symptoms of flu include:

Aching muscles.
Dry cough.
A blocked or runny nose.
High temperature.
A shivery feeling.
Headaches, which can be severe.
Sore throat.
Loss of appetite.
Fatigue and weakness.

Symptoms of a cold include:

Runny nose and sneezing.
Sore throat.
Cough.
Slight headache.
Slight temperature.

Must be a bummer lving on you pea pod when you're ill. You got no-one you can call to bring you Lucozade, oranges and soup?

Anyway, hope you're feeling better soon no matter what you got.
