Which would you go for?
Sky Plus:
Record to Hard Drive
Get all the sport and movies (except setanta)
Ghey 2mb sky broadband
59 quid a month inc BT line rental
Virgin:
No Hard Drive but LOADS of full seasons of stuff on the 'On Demand' channels
Decent fibre optic broadband
No sky movies, but yes to sky sports and you get setanta (which means UFC and big fights)
58 quid inc line rental
Which would you go for?

You weren't dishing out sky deals were you?
If you pay extra you get sky sports 1, 2, 3, extra, sky sports news, setanta, eurosport etc. What else am I missing?

The code you sorted me mate would it be still valid? Only reason I ask is my sky was in an old tenants name and he's yet to cancel it. Other option is that SUM may be able to make use of it if I don't v soon.

Girlfriend's family swapped from Sky to Virgin and she hates it, says Virgin's shit and hard to use.
I've got Sky+ and love it though.

Not sure why your comparing sky+ to Virgin XL pack and not Virgin+ (which records to hd)???
Also, sky is coming back to virgin at end of Nov iirc.

No worries. appreciate you sorting it but until it's cancelled I'm not paying for it anyway I will want to sort it once I have to though.

If you can do both... Why not take the Sky + (and or HD package as recommended)
Get Virgin in and a duff box for £80. Then you get best of both worlds for Extra £22 a month (2 broaband lines as well). You could go all the way ( NO HOMO ) and get a modem that lifts the cap and get 20mb B/band for same price as 2Mb.
FWIW I had Sky+ at the 'rents house. Extra box for £12 a month. My dad had full package so mine mirrored his with the exception of Setanta. Hoops fan so have it for that.
When I moved out no Sky in my block so it's Virgin all the way which is not as good, maybe the V+ box is though?

One of my best mates has one of them eurovox boxes, works really well and was easy to set-up. However he has to do alot of searching on tech forums increasingly frequently to get a new code when the old one gets scrabbled.

Just changed to Virgin+ HD with all the extra channels sports and movies. 20mb BB and telephone as well came to around £83 a month!
Was with sky+ and setanta came to around £65 a month. Virgin BB was £40 a month for the 20mb, and BT was another 30 or so.
Made sense to change!

I have virgin media at uni, and sky + hd at home, the latter is by far the best.

yeah there the cloned ones. key wise they change about once every 6 months just a case of ftp'n to a folder. They also work with satalite but you need to do something called card sharing.

I hardly watch tv, but Virgin Media broadband is pretty reliable and fast IMO. I have the M package and I'm pretty happy with it. Never had Sky, but heard a few mates say that their prices go up occasionally, but that was a few years ago though.
