I really want to avoid a postgrad loan! so where else can I look for some funding? After saving so far and for the next few months, I will have 5k saved leaving me with 1k to find! Note, I am not in line for any scholarships.

Thanks.

i'm in a similar position mate been accepted for a post grad course but don't have the funds to pay for fees - and can't really afford to get into any more debt by taking out loans

Not sure what your job is at the moment but if you took up another job as well, you could probably make a grand in a few months working 3 nights a week in a bar/pub.

only option risk free option is to find money doing work outside of the job u already have.

advertise yourself as a handyman: building flat pack, helping people move, washing cars.
get a temp work on the weekends.
if you have web skills build websites or make flyers?
you could do tutorin but you may need to get CRB checked unless you can find family friends.
Having a jumble sale selling all the shit you don't need in your house.

Making money is a hard hustle.

Graduated last year and I've been unemployed for the last 4 months trying to find a job I can get what I'm worth. Cry

plenty of jobs in supermarkets and the like. money is money and getting out of the house and working socially will put you in good spirits.

Can try an application to the arts and humanities council depending on the course you're doing. They do give out funding.

spot on DDD, im in such a better mood these days cause i found a job, i had that attitude that i'm not gonna work until i find something that 'im worth' as yellowebear says but our economic conditions you gotta settle with anything you can get.. before that i was unemployed/doing nothing for 4 months with no social life,etc.. was pure hell

i had some money saved up from my call centre temp work i did after leaving uni. that has run out though so life is now not all that great. i've been working on a building my own "web design n marketing consultancy" company too. built the website after learning flash, dreamweaver and photoshop. just did my first flyer for a band. not much of an acheivement in 4 months though, i need to get my shit sorted!

I'm gonna join up to a work abroad programme tomorrow. its one i found that u don't have to teach english and can get some business/management skills. £200 fee which seems pretty reasonable in comparison to the other ones i've seen. when i come back from that i'll be one year behind the grads i came ou of uni with and competing with new grads. hopefully this experience will be seen in good light though. most importantly i want to have experiences in my life and not just work until i die.

hopefully go to japan or china! gonna be scary as fuck but i guess that's the point, i'm not very mature, hopefuly this will fix me up.

You can always delay a year @ postgrad level if necessary (before or mid-course),
some others did this @ st.martins (down to finances), the faculty were ok with this.

There would probably be some leeway in staggering payments as well.

Cool
