8 mil signing fee? Nice

That means say he plays for 2 years at Arsenal, that's basically £175k a week (no captain obvious)

Christ, £8m signing on fee. Is that subject to UK taxes?

I'd imagine that is to compensate AGAINST UK taxes.

"Signing-on fees are sometimes paid:

when a player first becomes a contract player, or
when a player is transferred from one club to another.
These payments are usually chargeable to tax as employment income (see generally EIM00510onwards). Often the payment will be included in the player's contract and will be payable by instalments over the term of the contract. "

I'd imagine so yeah, divided up over the course of the contract as well. I'm happy at that price for him(10mil), if we can counter this with a creative midfielder and offloading about 10 players that would be good.

not too sure about podolski case but the signing on fee is sometimes called a "loyalty bonus", which is paid once the player completes their contract or re-signs.
TV, had his "loyalty bonus" paid up front this summer. so yeah he's on shit loads.

I remember being in Germany for the 2008 Champions league final and there was a massive buzz about cos everyone was talking about an all English final. Went to a German footy magazine's promotion in a pub the night before the game and it was all about English footy and how we have the best league in the world. Cool

Now it's all barca barca barca and we don't have those epic all English semi-finals like we used to. Arsenal, Liverpool have gone to shit in it and the team that's trying to buy the league this season aren't even in it.

I seriously hope Chelsea get through and would love it if they gave those Barca cunts a good beating.( although highly unlikely I know)

Barca cunts? Bit harsh... they deserve the plaudits. Arsenal used to pass Sad
