34 = xs
36 - small
38 = med
40 = large
42 = xl
44 = xxl
thats what i always thought, i could be wrong

Jordan's is the standard, some brands bump it up by one. But I have FP polos in xs and 36 and the xs are smaller so not sure about that one.

EDIT: And barbour make a 34 in some things, so what size is that?!

36/38/40/etc are supposed to be chest sizes in inches. The only reason they're now useless/confusing is because some brands have actually managed to turn actual measurements into vanity sizes.
