it seems theres loads of runners or wanabes (me Sticking out tongue ) on here so i thought we could do with a thread (nuke it if you dont agree)

i just recorded my first run 1.92 miles i know its fuck all but i'm dead proud of that! i've had a couple of little runs round the block over the last few weeks but other than that the last time i ran any where was to get some fags from the shop before it closed!

ps i feel great compared to 2 weeks ago when i thought i was going to die Smiling

la sportiva has some seemingly nice ones out - http://www.sportiva.com/
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007VYKE18/ref=asc_df_B007VYKE182061589/?tag=hyprod-20&creative=395021&creativeASIN=B007VYKE18&linkCode=asn&hvpos=1o3&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=16105312542114997314&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=

could have one with a pair last week. turned up to a 15 mile off road run thinking i could skate it with my regular road/grass shoes and took a decent beating as a result..
-edit, spare the right one..

Fuck, thought my toes were punished Jawdropping!

Slightly OT but I've got my first triathlon coming up in a few weeks time and my polar heart rate monitor has died through water. So need a replacement timing watch that's waterproof, any recommendations?

Looking to upgrade from my Polar HR Monitor and have just started looking for a new one. Some reviews HERE

Dunno how you feel about using a second hand HR monitor aitch but if you need one to use quickly and want my old one, PM me your address and I'll send it on.

Training for a half marathon, using this training schedule http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/table/2009/jan/10/half-marathon-programme , just finished week three tonight with 15.5km in 1h 22m which I'm pretty pleased with - can anyone recommend a half marathon to do in London from September onwards? Was looking at Nike's Run To The Beat but it's full for general admission.

PM'd Cool

Had a look at those ironman ones as the reviews seem pretty decent. The forerunners look good as well, but don't think I'd be comfortable using that underwater Laughing out loud

im thinking about signing up to this:
http://www.bkkmarathon.com/eng/index.php

120 days away, 42km/26miles, starts at 3am.

would that be enough time to train to even complete it? Laughing out loud

Just reading back through the thread and Guido probably has this spot on..

Going to start running a bit everyday and see how I get on - already made the financial commitment (44 quid).

My training plan was 2 small mid week runs (started 3 miles bulit up to 6) then a long run sat am (started 6 miles, builit up a couple of miles a week to 22 iirc)

Always have a good meal before long training run and take plenty fluids. I bought a gay running belt that i could stick a couple bottles in (1 lucozade flat stuff and 1 water)

That's always enough to get going Laughing out loud is it at 3am because of the heat/humidity? But yeah, what Guido said, buy something that's comfortable to run in and if you like running and fancy doing more of it, invest more time and money in a good running shoe later.

yeah 3am because of the heat, will finish just before 1pm i imagine - which is when peak heat hits.

does anyone recommend any vitamins for legs aching.. obviously ive just started and getting myself into this is hurting a bit what with going from not running at all to a little bit more each and everyday.

I found stretching helps with leg aches. There are some videos on youtube with runner stretches.
