la sportiva has some seemingly nice ones out - http://www.sportiva.com/ could have one with a pair last week. turned up to a 15 mile off road run thinking i could skate it with my regular road/grass shoes and took a decent beating as a result.. |

Fuck, thought my toes were punished Slightly OT but I've got my first triathlon coming up in a few weeks time and my polar heart rate monitor has died through water. So need a replacement timing watch that's waterproof, any recommendations? |

Training for a half marathon, using this training schedule http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/table/2009/jan/10/half-marathon-programme , just finished week three tonight with 15.5km in 1h 22m which I'm pretty pleased with - can anyone recommend a half marathon to do in London from September onwards? Was looking at Nike's Run To The Beat but it's full for general admission. |

PM'd Had a look at those ironman ones as the reviews seem pretty decent. The forerunners look good as well, but don't think I'd be comfortable using that underwater |

im thinking about signing up to this: 120 days away, 42km/26miles, starts at 3am. would that be enough time to train to even complete it? |

Just reading back through the thread and Guido probably has this spot on..
I mean all you do is buy some trainers that are suitable for your running style and get on with it. The fact is most people over think these things giving themselves and excuse not to do something. It's all pissing in the wind as I see it. Going to start running a bit everyday and see how I get on - already made the financial commitment (44 quid). |

Just entered the Venice Marathon at the end of October. Run regularly but training schedule starts this week. Any tips/advice from people who have completed a marathon before??? My training plan was 2 small mid week runs (started 3 miles bulit up to 6) then a long run sat am (started 6 miles, builit up a couple of miles a week to 22 iirc) Always have a good meal before long training run and take plenty fluids. I bought a gay running belt that i could stick a couple bottles in (1 lucozade flat stuff and 1 water) |
