it seems theres loads of runners or wanabes (me Sticking out tongue ) on here so i thought we could do with a thread (nuke it if you dont agree)

i just recorded my first run 1.92 miles i know its fuck all but i'm dead proud of that! i've had a couple of little runs round the block over the last few weeks but other than that the last time i ran any where was to get some fags from the shop before it closed!

ps i feel great compared to 2 weeks ago when i thought i was going to die Smiling

Want a small, pocket size mp3 player to use on runs that I'm not gonna notice. Just can't be fucked to lug around my iPhone anymore even though I'll miss using Runmeter - I've got an arm holder for it but it just fucks me off. Is a Shuffle the way to go or has anyone got any better suggestions before I blindly start trawling the net?

If you get a nano you get Nike+ built in too track your runs

Hadn't realised that, thanks MoB. Didn't really wanna drop a oner on something that's solely gonna be used for running but if it's got that facility I'm tempted.

It's what I use, tracks outdoor runs as well as treadmill really well. Plus it fits your need as its tiny. Can't go wrong, check the apple site for refurbs and you can pick em up for £75

I gave up on Nike+ after a few runs. Never tracked properly for me.

nano works perfectly for running, small and light, and the Nike+ functions are pretty accurate at measuring time/distance and you can upload data to the Nike+ website automatically via Itunes.
It doesn't do any fancy GPS route mapping etc. though.

Strange, I know a few people that use it and swear by it. It's not advanced but it accurate enough to use

Where do you have it clipped? I tried mine both in my pocket and clipped to the edge of my pocket and it varied by -1.5k and +0.3k on a pre mapped 5k route.

I used to be like that but I've learned to embrace them, I do live in east London where people wear them for normal wears though. I also wear shorts over the top obvs

Thanks, MoB - i'll check the link out. I used Nike+ before Runmeter and never had a problem with it so will probably jump straight back in.

Cov, i always wear rugby shorts plus Lycra shorts for running but when it starts to get chilly just swap the Lycra shorts for Lycra running tights and stick the rugby shorts over 'em to avoid any piss taking teens hollering 'dat ass' as I'm puffing pon road.

Same really always have cycling shorts on and shorts for road running and then do the same will the full length under armour when it gets cold. Never just the lycra though. Only in London.

Plenty of new 6th gen Nano's going on eBay for around the £60 mark 'cos of the replacement scheme that Apple conducted following the recall of an earlier model. I managed to pick one up for just that after a bit of patience.

Just to clarify, if I set it up correctly, there's no need to drop cash on the Nike+ sensor kit, right?

Edit - answer found
