Scumball 3000 is a four day race across Europe in cars costing no more than £500.........

Not really my cup of tea but may interest some!

I've always fancied the Gumball 3000 but it's like 25 grand or something aint it?

From what I can see on the site and guess, a 3 man team would cost

£500 for a shit tip car (I'd go for a knackered Capri)
£300 for a month's insurance
£500 Charity money
£480 for entry
£1200 for campsites, petrol, food and drink.

So that's about a grand each for a 5 day holiday you'd never forget.

Can anyone shed any light on these figures, are they about right etc.?

I'd seriously think about doing this.

I guess, if I paid the money. It was a 'supercar', even through the running joke of '88 miles an hour'. Plus the parts are easy to get (it a bastard of Volvo, Ford and Saab)

Plus I think there are only 2 people on here that could properly afford the £25k entry fee!

Me and my mate were gonna do the cannonball last year in a BM 330 cab (although I don't think it would have quite cut the mustard with the exotica) but never quite got round to sorting it. It's much more reasonable entry fees than the gumball. Reckon now I've changed my car it's worth a bash - it's still something that I intend on definately doing in the next couple of years. Reckon it would be a right laugh Smiling

Maybe a fuk sponsored car? Laughing out loud
