Thought we could do with a shoes/boot thread, as don't often see much discussion about them. At the moment im looking for some but nothing has really caught my eye. Anyone seen anything nice recently?

you're not as cool as you think you are so please give details of the items you post

Pretty much TTS. I'm a UK 7.5 - 8 and the 42 I've got fit me well. A tiny bit loose if anything (way better than being a bit tight), but comfy as hell once broken in.

If you see any of their Marostica Low trainers going cheap in a 42 let me know... Eye-wink

^ had these. TTS. Look great in pics but the lack of toe box area is a little weird on feet I found.

Quite fancy a pair of shoes/derbies to wear with shorts, ideally I'm after Hockneys but there's little chance I'll find any in my size. Anything else about that might be suitable?

Anyone got any experience of getting a thin rubber sole put on the bottom of a pair of leather soled shoes? Is it worth it/necessary?
Got a pair of Grenson Archie's and wouldn't want it too thick as the soles are quite thick anyway.

It's not necessary, no, but why are you considering it?

People do it to protect the leather sole and provide more grip in the wet.

got myself the grey OL ones from Tres Bien and they are great, Mark McNairy would be my second bet but if you got some cash go with Strictly's Aldens, they are amazing.

Not sure if you want leather or not though?

Cheers guys, think suede would probably work better with shorts. Quite like the grey OL ones.
