Seeing as its very sunny outside its inspired me to start looking for shorts. If I start now I might be able to find some by the summer. I saw henry/homer buy some from h&m which looked nice (only available in London though apparently Sad ).

So looking from some up to £40 nice shorts? I like maha ones but to much, looking for fairly plain cargo style shorts. Any ideas?

I'm for cutting an old pair of jeans. If you do it properly the result will be good.
I really think that spending, eg 90£, for a pair of denim shorts, but shorts in general, which will be worn for no longer than 1 month and half is stupid...just my idea though

jean shorts by rights of passage should be the best things ever. pockets perfect, and denims denim.
but its one of lifes mysteries that the second you cut a pair of jeans in half they look total toilet.
but cut a pair of any colour chinos in half, and bingo. total winner. Puzzled
jean shorts will never ever work imho. wether home made or done by visvim.
they just look wrong and i cannot give a reason why. it just doesnt work.
if i knew the answer id be a clever man.

Agree with Anto on this, I did it with a pair of LVC 1955s that I'd bought from an outlet years ago and stopped wearing. Didn't even hem them, just turned them up a couple of times and ironed them, the redline selvedge was a nice additional detail. Only sold them on because I cut them too short. Cry

Noble, agree that denim shorts don't work most of the times....another good reason for going home made Eye-wink

Beedub, have in mind of cutting a old pair of jeans, gonna go your way!

Probably going to get a torrent of abuse for this but I've found that rolling up jeans works better than cutting them up.

Just seen some Ralph cargo shorts in TKMaxx. Are cargo shorts an ok purchase or should I avoid?

Cargo shorts are worn by either sculpted adonis, jack wills, abercrombie jock, or first choice 'I got a feeling' TV ad style dad in summer with brown velcro fastened sandals.

Unless they're camo then they are for can't let go of nu-metal late twenties wasters and worn with a plain black tee and DC shoes with a padded tongue.

Basically these three UK subcultures have ruined them for everyone

'Nice' is subjective, so it's a bullshit argument anyway.
