i'm looking for some boots at the moment any one got any recommendations i just bought some northwave freedom sl but they murdered my feet so i had to send them back, i have also tried on burton moto's and some ride things both where terrible (but i have i've got pretty wide feet) i have since been looking at northwave legend sl's and 32 lashed as both are supposed to be really comfortable but a guy in the xscape tonight told me i'd be better off buying stiffer boots what do you think? [edit] found it |

Skier here. Snowsports in general are great fun. What's your Xscape like? it's the castleford one! it's pretty good i was just talking to a bloke what go's to them all and he likes cas the best |

Yeah man, they have special boots for people with wide feet..you'd have to google though as i don't know them off by heart. Have fun learning...snowboarding is one of the best sports in the world! |

Youd be better to ask Stonefish about the boots and stuff. I'm nt up to speed on my snowboarding. I've been to the Braehead Xscape and it was OK, good for beginners or refreshing your skills through the Summer and it's real snow which is 1,000 times better than fake in my opinion. |

It depends on your style of boarding, if your going to be hitting the indoor slopes and prefer to freestyle 32 lashed are very nice boots, ridiculously light, very durable with good protection, and they fit my wide feet! I would recommend trying them on in a TSA branch to figure out the size you need, then hunting them down for a cheaper price online, I'm a size 10 but settled on a 10.5, there was quite a noticeable difference in the 10 and 11. A comfortable pair of boots definitely makes a difference imo. Anyone been to Hemel yet? |

vans fit wide. My advice is go to a shop, try on as many pairs as possible and just get the ones that are the most comfy. Getting boots that fir well is the most important thing to get right. |

Where are you Russ, leeds? Theres a shop down south where they have 8's and you can try on all the boots and everything, proper good but don't know if you'd want to travel to the other side of the country. |

Whilst the thread is here then. Anyone got any experience of Bataleon boards. Only been on the snow for two one week holidays but loved it and progressed ok, this year I was on a second hand Burton, it was fine but would like to get a new one for next year. |

www.blue-tomato.com are good the bay is good too, but its a bit of a gamble picking up boots online unless you know your exact size. decathalon is also an option. Only other option is to head to another snowdome abit futher away and check out there stuff, arent there any specialist shops in your area ? there are a fair few skate/surf/board shops knocking around my way. |

i'm near leeds yes! other than the shops at the xscape and roho there isn't much about well not that i know of, i've just checked snow and rock online and they don't have any 8s so i doubt they'll have them in the sheffield store! |

Whilst the thread is here then. Anyone got any experience of Bataleon boards. I've got the 07/08 Bataleon Fun Kink and it's an absolute blinder. Really quick, loads of pop, nice and buttery. It's the board in between the Evil Twin and the Goliath and is great for freestyle but pretty much an allrounder. I did a season in Tignes last year and had only done a week of riding before I went out. I progressed a lot quicker than a lot of my mates, especially when getting confident turning, the triple edge tech is great! 6 months down the line and a pretty good boarder I still love it, definitely getting another bataleon next winter! |

Thanks. I'm looking at the Evil Twin, just a lot of money for something at the moment that will not get used until next year, not sure whether to leave it and hope I can pick one up at the end of the year. |

Really quick, loads of pop, nice and buttery.
i agree with progression during a season though, i did 7 months in morzine in 2004 3 months boarding the rest biking and i progressed so much, a week away and your just getting the hang of it, when its all your doing day in day out for weeks on end it becomes second nature |

i lived in St Jean d'Aulps which is about 15 minutes drive from Morzine, but a resort in itself and part of the Portes lift pass, although the boarding up there was shit, so i missed out on the morzine nightlife as my missus couldnt drive and taxi's were always $$$$$ |

the only other local place i know is robin hood water sports and and there selection isn't great
