South African on your UK forum

Hi guys/gals, Well I don't think that you see a lot of South African guys on your forum but I'm here to find out if someone can maybe help me out (and no I don't want your money, hehe...) I don't know if you guys heard about the bad stories in SA. I am 23 years, white male and I really really really really.... want to immigrate to the UK. I was there for a really short time after grade 12 and it was the best time of my life. I am busy with my 2nd year at college to get my Diploma in IT. I love IT and I don’t believe that SA is a place to be if you are in IT. At the moment I work for Anglo Gold – IS Support Specialist. Know for my favor… Can anyone from the UK actually help me or direct me where I might find a company who is willing to get a South African to work for them. This is my life wish and can anyone please assist. Even if it’s just a little advice. Life is to dangerous here and to expensive. Like the people from Zimbabwe that is illegally in South Africa was burned and beaten to death. Every night I pray my hart out to God just to spare my fiancé’ so that no one will break into my house and rape or kill her. I’ll do anything just for a bit of advice. What? Don't you think it's worth a shot trying everything to get to a civilized land where people actually treat you like a person... People who feels guilty if they had to kill someone? I am really desperate to immigrate. That is why I am asking you guys for some help... |

Hello there Renaldo, I've been working in IT for the last 2 years, mostly in the UK, and have worked with loads of saffers, so if you can sort out a visa to work in the UK then you shouldn't have a problem getting work. To look for jobs, start at one of the jobs websites like www.jobserve.co.uk - it is fairly self explanitory to setup a filter for the skills you have. Once you get a visa, you can apply for jobs then the rest will fall into place quite quickly. Just remember that we are heading into one of the worst recessions for century so you are going to need some reserves as jobs can be quite fleeting and competition tough - without a niche skill set you will be lucky to make more than £30k a year. When you add the cost of living here and the high tax level, it is not as good a deal as it has been for a long time. Drop me a PM if you want to talk about any specifics. thanks Iain |

www.gumtree.com to find shared accommodation - you could even find a house full of south africans which would perhaps make things a little easier to start with. |

Can I please ask anyone who has a negative opinion to rather keep it to themselves. You might think this is a joke - mbs - but try living it... Yea you would have done exactly the same. It's not fun lying in bed with the person you love most in the world thinking if you will see her again... So please have some respect for others... O and sofasogud, sorry but I am taken... But I have a buddy living there... |

Hi Uncle bulgaria, Thanks a lot... Will send you a pm now... The problem is my Visa... I tried applying for one a few months ago but I believe it works on a point system now. You have to get (I think it was) 75 points. According to me there's 2 ways to get that (I have about 60 points) 1. Finish my Diploma in IT. I should score a few points there. Still I am doing this part time so it's going to take me about 1 - 3 years (min - max) 2. Getting a job in the UK and they can give me prove that they want me there for what ever reason. I really score a lot of points on this one. Plus then at least when I leave my job here I know that I have one there. I don't know of any other way to get a work visa |
