hey y'all

just need a little bit of advice.. i am a pain pussy.

gashed my leg open in a bike accident, had a hole the size of a ten pence piece in my lower calf. lost half a pint of blood, reluctantly went to the hospital and a doctor stitched it up (5 stitches on the outside, 1 in the inside). its been a couple of weeks and i was meant to have them out a week ago..i havent been busy at all, just loafting in the studio and what not...it took about a week before i could fully extend my foot.

i have had stitches on quite a few occasions when i was younger, but cant really recall it being that painful when they were removed? when i look at the wound, the stitches are cut deep into the flesh, so its definitely gonna hurt...right?

what i want to know if anyone can help is, are there any side effects from leaving stitches in..
i assume the longer i leave them in, the more difficult and painful it is to remove them?

you should be fine, the stitches will be coated in stuff to stop them sticking to your flesh. it'll hurt a bit, and you'll have an odd tugging sensation. the one inside will disolve

It might hurt a tiny little bit just as it is pulled out, but it's really not that bad.

The main reason you need to have the stitches out is that they are holding the skin in place very tightly together, almost bunched so that the wound can heal. I'd imagine you would end up with a very raised scar due to the amount of tissue there.

A little difficult to explain it, but if you have ever had any stitches before, look at your scar and you will notice the scar holes of the stitches are a little further out from the scar. Now try and push those holes together and you will see how it was holding the skin in place when it was wounded.

Basically just get them taken out.

Worst experience i have ever had involved this.

The stitches got taken out on my "accident" i had, and I hated it.

I fell of a wall, and a piece of corrugated iron sliced through my left leg, causing an "L" shaped cut on my leg. It was nearly an inch deep, and about 10 inches in length, and caused the flesh on my leg to flap about.

You could see right inside my leg. I was awake while the stitched it up (which was easily the worst bit), and awake when they took them out. Sol's right on the tugging sensation (no wanko).

Fucking great big bastard scar I have on my leg, which I tell everyone is a shark bite, due to the stitch marks it left. Looks rank as....

if you wanna be a bit of a queer, rub vit.E cream onto the scar every day and it should nearly vanish

all i know is,
i was pretty groggy as it happended during the day, i wrapped it up in a wet flannel and taped it up (ghetto stylee!) and went about my binness.. it got to about 10pm, and i sort of realised that it needed some attention, i showed it to a laydee friend who freaked out. (girls and blood dont mix!), she drove me to the hospital where a gorgeous nurse cleaned it up, and an even more gorgeous doctor gave me 6 injections to the wound to numb it up and then stitched it up (i pleased with her to bandage it up or use wound glue).. i was a little spaced out as i smoked a joint on the way to the hospital. the stitches didnt hurt, the needles to numb the area fucking killed !!

renewed my faith in the nhs as i was expecting a 10 hr stint in casualty... was in an out in about 90 mins.

smoking the joint wasnt a good idea, i bet the wound hurt the next day!!!

you were under local anasthetic then when it was stitched, means they stitch it quite tight without having to worry. as said, it's gonna tug like hell. don't smoke the day before, or the day of getting them out

I like scars... provided they aren't on the face, each one tells a story.

I'm not sure how well rubbing cream is depending where on the body it is. Where I had surgery after breaking my arm, the scar has never really healed to a near invisible scar because it is on a joint that moves it is still pink coloured, a year on from having it done.

Nah... Full Abdominoplasty with new navel reconstruction (google it).

Cos I lost so much weight. Still, I'm MUCH happier with my scar then having excess skin.

Did I bollocks. That's what made it the worst. I can't watch any medical program that involves surgery now, without wanting to puke.

They put a clamp on my leg, and lifted the fleshy flppy bit up, and inserted a needle with the anesthetic into my leg up by my groin. Hurt like hell.

When I went to hospital a couple of years back for an opp, they had to put the table on a 45 degree angle as I nearly passed out.
