so i was speaking to a few people about style and they say my style is chavvy or urban. I was quite surprised to find they would label my style chavvy? anyone else with a style similar to mine get the same reaction?? i was just wondering, personally i dont think my style is chavvy? |

I think cos you dress quite rude boyish which can be confused with chavs. |

they just think your wearing flash nikes or flash kicks and plain blue jeans and just another t-shirt technically you are, you just paid a lot for them. |

Yeah I guess the average joe sees baggy jeans, baggy t-shirts and nikes which is pretty much standard rudeboy attire. I wouldn't say that you look chav but certainly urban but then it's probably accentuated by having your hairline shaped very straight, jeans low slung etc because really you don't dress that different to the other streetwear types on here. I don't mean this in a negative way or anything because it's your style but just imagining what normal peoples perspectives are. |

The guys in work call it a waste of money. I partly agree, it is a waste of money to spend that much and not realy stand out from the crowd. Like Kie said if your goal is to look similar to other urban lads then, mission accomplished, if your goal is to show your personallity and individual style then just buying expensive/limited/exclusive clothes will never achieve it, you'll always just look like an expensive clone. |

The simple way is to dress in a differnt style to your social peers. If they dress street dress indie or vice versa. If your social peers dress like joe bloggs, any maiximum styled image with stand you out. Use of this site just informs you or alternative choices to the mainstream shops, however the alternative is mainstream to those in the know. Hence you will not stand out in these circles. |

I don't think people need to resort to anything so formulaic as to look at what your peers dress like and do the opposite, I mean you are clearly not going to be dressing how you want to if you do this just to stand out. Plus I don't think standing out is really the answer. |

Perhaps "standing out" is a bit strong, but you do want to try and show you are an individual. |

Not everyday and stuff, if your on a night out and you want to catch the eye of the sex of your choice standing out from your peers is a bonus. In general just dress how you feel confortable in outfits fromm your clothing range. I do like to mix stuff up to stop items from becoming stale int he same old outfits. Its summer now so the street wear purcahased over autumn / winter can be used more effectively. |

Agreed with Nick it is nice if how someone dresses reflects who they are. Difficult to achieve though I mean more than just wearing a stripey top because you like indie. I guess there comes a time where to be original you have to shut out all other influences which is easier said than done, it would deffo mean no message boards. Also don't think the opposite sex give a shit to that extent I reckon I would do the same with girls in jeans and a t-shirt as I could in an outfit of my best favourite items. |

I would say u look a bit of a posh skatery. Average people don’t know the meaning behind your clothes, however if some one who is interested in the fashion bit then they will realise you went to a lot of trouble to buy/wear what you have which they should appreciate and visa versa. |

I would have said Streetwear was like any other style, only the other people who are into it will really understand exactly what you're wearing. |

yeah... thats what i was thinking.. hmm guess im just too cool for your average joe. hahahaha i was just wondering if anyone else on the board got the same reception? Most of the people in Birmingham don't really get the different clothing labels though as they are only exposed to a certain style and range of labels in most of the shops they have access to. |
