seeing Marco V at gatecrasher nottingham tonight though and maybe acqueviva at firefly tomorrow (depending on how well tonight goes)

not a big fan of the together nites as they tend to be a little cheesey sometimes. but that nite is worth it for todd terje and ettiene de crecy alone.

i'm in berlin this weekend.. so its the weekend club and dixon and the innercityvisions nite. love this venue and i love dixons sets.

any london headz out tonite, derrick carter at the end. nuff said.

I was in a club the other day and the DJ called out over the mic: 'Who likes Drum and Bass?' and then played three songs (in a row) by Pendulum. Typical behaviour.
We left shortly after.

Excuse my ignorance, many years since I've actually been in a club, but what the fuck is grime? And is there a deep house renaissance happening at the moment?

not sure about a deep house renaissance, but the german minimal scene for me is pretty deep.. and although london doesnt really have many deep house nites as such, you are getting deep house labels and artists putting on more and more nights. labels like innervisions from berlin and the uk's urbantorque are putting out some quality stuff. i wasnt really into it until i started going to ben watts nites at neighbourhood for his buzzin fly label, which was very deep, but recently has gone alot more tech.

a few others here may be able to explain grime a little better as i dont really listen to it.. but grime evolved from garage. people like roll deep, wiley and commericial artists like kano and the mitchell brothers consider themselves grime artists.

Maybe not 100% accurate but a reasonable overview. Docdoom, Whitey and Jaer are grime boys iirc.

Is derrick carter still on the go?

Inner City is something else, its at Weekend on something like the 10th floor of a high rise in Berlin.

This always fucks me off. I realise that they're not going to play some of the drum and bass songs I love, because I've gone to a shitty club because that's where the women wanted to go, but seriously, if I hear fucking "Blood Sugar", "Slam" or the heresy that is "Tarantula" ever again, I'll probably end myself on the spot. Just give us some variety - Hype, Zinc, Grooverider - well known names, I'm sure even the morons in the club would have heard of them...
Fucking pendulum.

p.s. whenever I see this thread as I browse, I always think it's called the "Cunting Thread". My expectations always get shot down when I realise Sad

Ministry of Sounds 16th birthday on 17th Nov.

Mark Knight and Dubfire from Deep Dish are on, it will be a mad one that's for sure.

Have any of found any really good places to hit for NYE? I only know of warehouse rave in Shoreditch hosted by Isst.

I wish I had a time machine, I'd take myself back about 10 years to a Subliminal Records party at Ministry. Judging by their compilations over the last few years though, wouldn't fancy it now.
