They have an offer on, and i need some shirt's for work. I've got the size and sleeve length correct, but can anyone provide more info on what they mean by alterations. They have figures like 32.5 etc, what is this a measurement of, and are the shirts of a good quality?

They're the work shirts I use - they come in different sleeve lengths and there is a slim cut version available.

I've heard stories about them fitting like a tent so not so sure, that's why i was interested in the alterations. Is the alterations part the chest size, as the only other sizes i see mentioned on their site are the collar and sleeve's.

Unfortunately the slim fit's don't come in my collar and sleeve combo

yeh lewin, pink, aquascutum, etc are more for uncommonly sized gents, even the 'slim' cuts are huge

Wouldn't touch them personally, I found the quality to be terrible, look like shit after 1 wash, particularly the collar. And has been quoted, bad fit. And as for the offers, don't be suckered by that, they have offers on all year. I use M & S Luxury shirts for work, about 2 for £60 with the deals they do.

I've found the quality to be excellent and they iron well. Guess it depends what fits you. I'm a 38 reg, 5'11 1/2 & 12st - fit me great.

I'm a big fan of the slim fit shirts. Quality is generally OK although you do get the odd rogue shirt. Get yourself measured up as per the instructions in the catalogue or normally as soon as you walk through the door some sales guy will launch himself on you with a tape measure anyway!!

What the fuck you expect for from a shirt costing £25 a pop, Miu Miu fitting?
These are great shirts for work, tend to wear them most of the time.

Granted, they may be for the uncommon sized gent but hey ho, you normal sized guys can get fitted shirts from Topman/Zara.

Oh & those M&S luxury shirts, the fucking sleeve length is massive!

The quality is poor compared to others.

M&S have bespoke shirts from £30.

I like slim fit shirts from Hawkes and Curtis for work.

I bought an M&S oxford shirt for an interview the other, only £20. It's not fitted, but can be worn casually, open with a tee underneath

Charvet (Paris), also Turnbull & Asser are generally seen as the leading shirtmakers. I think Hilditch & Key next, then everyone else on Jermyn in terms of reputation (inc, Lewin). Personally I prefer CdG shirt collar/cuffs, sizing and quality is all over the place though.

32.5 sounds like the length of the shirt...
On eBay there are some good deals to be had... Picked up 4 new Seymores (of Bradford) for under 16 quid... easily comparable to New & Lingwood, Chester Barrie, etc. These links may help...

Oh, I though this was cool also (video on Charvet).

I had a few Lewin shirts, thought they were shit. Quality isn't great, M&S are definitely a safe bet for work shirts as suggested above. Good quality for the price and dont take an age to iron like the Lewin shirts do.

I'm not a big fan. I usually buy 15" shirts and with Lewin shirts, I feel like I'm being choked when I button up. My favourite work shirts are Agnes B and Gap.

Collar is too tight for the body on TM Lewin. I like the fit of the topman £20 shirts the quality is appaling after a few washes though!
